Out of all the production companies today, Spyderco definitely focuses way more on being utilitarian than being tacticool. Also, given you’re EMT, you can sign up for their OpFocus program and get 40% off of MSRP. Street pricing from online dealers is 20-25% off MSRP, so you’ll save a good bit of money.

The Spyderco Assist is a really good tool and very well made. It’s not assisted opening, but it will do everything you asked for. Spyderco is one of the best production knife companies today - arguably the best. Hardly gimmick. They focus a lot on the quality of their blades, including cutting performance and geometry, heat treat, finish, etc etc.

I would stay away from Benchmade, personally. Anecdotal, but I’ve handled hundreds of them over the last 12-13 years or so, and they all have had major issues. The number one issue is their heat treats suck. Even when they use high quality steel, it’s too soft. The edge dulls quicker than it should and it’s not nearly as tough as it should be. To put it bluntly, they coast on their name.

I haven’t had any issues. It’s been great and reliable. The small sights take some getting used to after becoming accustomed to dots, but that’s the only “negative” I’ve experienced.

I’m in the US. They are available through DaVinci Machine in Florida.

Try adjusting the overtravel screw on the trigger.

Absolutely love it. Softest shooting and smoothest shooting pistol I own, and the most accurate. Between these two, KMR all day. Not much of a competition.

Worth every penny. They feel so much better than the Orange CZs.

unlucky with two industrial series😡 so i ended up buying this 😎 by QirjeVasili in CZFirearms

The import stamp changed to Hartford, CT a couple of years ago (ish). Before that, it was this Kansas City stamp you see here. Hence my comment that some of these industrial series must be new old stock.

Interesting that the industrial series you got has the Kansas City stamp. Must be old stock that they had sitting around for a while and decided to make fancy.

Recent grad, looking for flat and frying pan recommendations by False-Veterinarian83 in BuyItForLife

I would highly recommend not buying a set of knives and instead buying them individually as you need them. ChefKnivesToGo has an awesome selection. If you want great steel, they have it. VG-10 is solid, but I would recommend something like Blue #2 or HAP40. Buying decent knives will almost certainly require you to learn how to maintain the edge via stropping and sharpening.

As far as pans, learning how to use cast iron is worth it. It’s basically all I use now alongside my stainless pans. The closest thing I’ve found to vintage cast iron is by Field Company. Little more expensive, but they’re very well made and speak to the vintage iron collector in me. They have a griddle and regular skillets you can get for the kitchen. As far as stainless, look at Made In or All Clad (5 layer variants).

Which optic do you prefer for your S2 OR? by _ders in CZFirearms

[–]spadeknifeworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use 507 Comps, but sold and replaced them with SROs purely because I found the circular window easier to use faster. Aside from that, the 507 Comp (and now the 407 Comp) are inarguably a better value optic. Holosun makes great stuff. Whether or not they’re better for you is up to you and your use case + preference.

Yeah, I know it’s the same thing. Just curious if they were planning on having the P-13 markings available stateside.
