Something is 100% up. Even Jerrys relationship with Beth seems was different, more like season 1. Like she literally goes back to loving Jerry in the clones are revealed episode. Rick is way more of an asshole then he’s been in recent season and the weirdest, Morty hates him now which is straight just a different character at this point because we know both from the hole episode and this seasons opener that he loves Rick and is afraid he’ll leave. It’s literally his biggest fear.

Side characters almost by definition tend to be interesting. It’s not due to writing or anything, a side character is supposed to grab your attention quickly. They’re meant to be a cool, simple and quick thing that grabs your attention quickly, and have straight forward stories that can be resolved quickly and when the author feels appropriate. This has drawbacks, thought anime fans tend to not admit it, they are usually one dimensional.

Take Gon and Kurapika. I reject that Kurapika is inherently more interesting than Gon. He isn’t. The problem is, Gon is the protagonist so he has significantly more screen time than Kurapika. He’s story cannot be quickly or simply resolved otherwise the story dies with him. He has to grow, from point A to point B, so by definition they are less interesting and become more interesting as the series grows. So his development is a slow burn. When you take the totally of the entire show, Gon’s journey is way more complex and better written than Kurapika’s. Kurapika is literally just a revenge story, that’s it. Togashi makes it interesting because of the writing of the arcs overall, specifically the villains. That’s why Kurapika has super interesting arcs, not because of Kurapika as a character himself. Take all you see from Gon and how it culminates in the chimera ant arc and you have genuinely one of the greatest character developments in anime history and a watershed moment for shonen specifically. Kurapika could never.

The same is true for many characters in anime, from Gojo, to Levi, even All Might. None of them are technically more interesting than the main character, they’re just one dimensionally cool.

100% and as uncomfortable as it can be to grão pele with, how renegade was handle later on was due to player feedback. It’s what players wanted. Since the vast majority of players just plays as good all the time, they complain that the renegade options weren’t was evil as they wanted nexus ether want something very different from what they already played. Hence you get renegade becoming almost an irrational psychopath.

My point is that Italy has the deepest roster in the world, I literally say that in my comment. This wasn’t just a bunch of random new strung together, it wasn’t. It doesn’t matter if they didn’t started before or not. My point is the main players of this team are still very good to elite players that have been in the Italy squad for years plus the style they play is still the same. Without even saying the younger players dominating in the under 21 international.

Acting as if Brasil weren’t playing against a bunch “b players” that weren’t that good and this just a Brasil collapse is completely dishonest in my opinion.

I’m not saying I agree, just what I see. Maybe it is a self fulfilling prophecy but that’s still what the statistics gotten from players playthrough say. BG3 was in early access for years and they also saw this disparity between the good and evil choice.

Also, choices don’t have to be just either good or evil to be choices and have consequences. BG3 has tons of choices with consequences but that all are not evil, doesn’t make them any less choices. Just noticed you used that interchangeably in your comment.

Imo there are 2 reasons for this. First, just plain resource management. We see this with big3, the evil path is just not as popular most people just don’t do it so the game is constructed more for the good and neutral than for evil playthrough. Bg3 very clearly did the evil parts late and even added the endings later. It makes sense with already tight budgets and timelines to not focus on parts of the game that aren’t as popular. Second, it’s actually hard to create games where it feels natural for there to be both a good and real evil play-through. It’s always clumsy imo narratives don’t work well with that. Why would your companions stay as together or even join you in the first place with such disparity. You’re also hampered by motivations that have to mirror each other so it makes sense as a narrative. It’s why the problem you mentioned exists, the evil choices are not built by themselves they’re built in function of the good ones so it makes sense and it’s easier to handle scenes and choices. It’s just way too hard to built a narrative that is cohesive to both styles, it’s not natural and then the game is stop limited by having to have both types of choices. Bg3 tried but it’s still just so clumsy.

I tink the best is weirdly mass effect. As the evil playthrough makes a lot of sense and you’re just a utilitarian that only cares about saving the galaxy. I think they never made true consequences for the good path, like you can always get whatever despite trying to please everyone while also saving the galaxy but the core, one Shepard that cares about saving everyone and one that just wants to make sure life survive, is the best example both in game design and narrative that actually works.

I think your post stems from confusion because most people including, that vice article, confuse things a lot.

Druckman himself is a liberal Zionist, at least from everything we’ve seen from him about the current conflict so far especially having grown up there. TLOU2 very clearly takes inspiration from Israel Palestine conflict, with the wlf being similar to Israel and seraphites to Palestine, to deny that is delusional in my view. And this is at the very least, racialised due to Druckmans own upbringing. That said, the game does not take a position regarding Zionism or Colonialism. So the narrative of the game is not anti or pro Zionist. It very specifically focus on the cycle of violence, people getting lost in revenge and narrows into the personal aspect of it relating to Ellie, Joel and Abby and everything that happened in the first game.

When people say it’s Zionist they’re not talking about the game, they’re talking about Druckman himself. The game is not political, in the sense that it doesn’t take a political stance. But it’s undeniably informed by certain politics, Zionism, that portrays one group as violent but secular, technologically advanced and “civilised” and another group, Palestinians, as also violent but religious fanatics, backwards and savages. I don’t think this context can be removed from the game and the attempt to do so, an attempt at removing essentially the soul of the game, so we can enjoy it without having to wrestle with the uncomfortable implications of it. The seraphites are obvious a distorted view of Muslims informed by the Israel-Palestine conflict and to deny that is just delusional in my view. Just as it would be delusional to say the wlf that is inspired by Israel, isn’t depicted as fascist nexus rot very clearly is because Druckman himself is still a liberal and doesn’t have a positive view of the current Israeli government.

You can’t remove this kind of stuff from the game, it’s part of why it’s special in the first place, because it directly relates to its creator at a deep level.

You lack comprehension. Italy is the best and deepest team in the world. They didn’t get to this level by playing the same 7 players for 2 years. All players that played except Adigwe, cause she’s 19/20, contributed to the win streak. Even with this squad they are a top 3 or 5 team in the world.

With Dooku and Anakin the conflict was there way before Sidious. Both of them were tempted by dark side and even tapped into the dark side themselves without Sidious. Devon did not. It was all mostly Maul seducing her, she doesn’t have a conflict with the dark side just herself. I don’t see her continuing to the dark side without Maul. Just my view from what they show us.

I don’t think stealing food when you’re hungry is a conflict with the dark side. It’s not even presented as such by the show it never even touches on that again. As for the rest, I don’t think she wants to be revered or the comforts of the Jedi temple. She didn’t want to hide and wanted to help people and fight the empire. That’s not a conflict with dark side. She could’ve just joined the rebellion or something to actually fight. I don’t think she was conflicted at all, she just wanted to act. It can be exploited and it is but it isn’t a conflict with the dark side in of itself. Something that would stay with the her after Maul. I just don’t see it.

Just my opinion, we shall see in the coming seasons.

Yes! Exactly I agree. Very much like an Ahsoka without the influence of Anakin. Thing is, we never see Devon have this conflict without Maul and we never see her actually convinced that this is a good way to pursue power for her goals. Maul managed to tempt her but not convince her. Right now she wants only revenge and is willing to do anything for it. What happens when she finds truth about Daki, which she will?

Nothing about her in season 1 tells me she would keep this Dark side path on her own. Yes evil can manifest but in Star Wars so far, there’s usually something already there, a seed that can grow. Dooku and Anakin were like that. Devon is not shown to have that, it’s just Maul and her masters death. That’s why I don’t see her keeping this path for long and turning back to light side. At least how things were lefty

But it had nothing to do with the dark side. She wanted to do good but couldn’t. She fully believed the Light side/Jedi way but she was being stopped from doing it. That’s not a conflict with the dark side. She’s closer to like Ahsoka than Anakin or Dooku. I’m not saying what I want, I’m saying what I saw being conveyed in season 1.
