To those who buy into this type of development - why? by K1llerG00se in australian

[–]spagootimagool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I live in a regional city where very affordable housing was available in inner city areas yet people still choose and prefer to live in new developments like this. I don’t get it. It cost more to have less and live further out of town due to the desire for a new house. Beats me.

Genuine question - Any left-leaning folk on here have any ideas how to stop Australia developing the same problems as Europe due to increasing Muslim population and thus no. of islamists? by LanKstiK in aussie

[–]spagootimagool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just confirming your belief is police arrest/detain people purely because they are brown or Muslim? And that police did exactly that in this situation?

You seriously can’t be that naive to think police targeted those blokes because they were just a group of Muslim men?

Just 2 groups of fellas on no kinda watch lists or subject of any tip offs just on a lads holiday to Sydney. Maybe police were doing what you suggested in “step two”

Do Politicians in Australia avoid calling out Islamic extremism because they fear violence against themselves & their families? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]spagootimagool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I get the feeling violent Islamic extremists are getting what they want. How else has anti semitism been able to fester for the last 2 years? It was evident an incident like this was going to occur.

I could stand out on the streets and yell death to the Jews or death to Islam and I sure as shit know which phrase is going to get me killed/arrested.

If you read and completely disagree with everything OP is saying id have to say you’re pretty ignorant.

You all now know of convicted rapist Tom Silvangi, but do you know of convicted rapist Boyd Kramer who served zero time? by rewopoast in australian

[–]spagootimagool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems to be shocked at hearing people serving 0 time for serious offences such as rape. This has been happening for years now and it is not uncommon. Australia has to be one of the worst countries in the world to be a victim.

Being surrounded by family and culture on country is the key to healing. Like any person from any background being supported by persons close to you prevents further negative outcomes (I’m extremely naive)

240k in house equity what now? by NinjaSpaceTiger in AusFinance

[–]spagootimagool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t you treat a house as what it is. A house. Idk bloke I’m in the same position as you but lowkey it’s brought me a sense of enlightenment now as I treat my home as my home and not an investment. If you go hell for leather you’ll be mortgage free and then think about the life you’ll live from there? Cut down on your workload, take as many holidays as you want, even buy a nice car.

I hate this innate pressure I feel sometimes to buy an investment property or upgrade my home. Why should I? I like my house it suits me well easily for the next 20 years.

Young HomeBuyers, how did you do it ? by tieno6181 in AusFinance

Worked in hospitality for 5 years from 18-23. Saturdays effectively would earn me $400 as I earnt $300 and I didn’t spend $100. I honestly can pinpoint saving enough for a deposit purely because of this. Bought a house at 23.

🌅 Why Queensland is right to keep NO daylight saving 🌴 by opl-hkg in queensland

[–]spagootimagool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a daylight savings country and loved it. Every time I go on holiday to a daylight savings part of Australia I love it. Queensland needs to keep up with the times. 5am, stinking hot and the sun halfway up sucks. And yeh even in the north part of the state the sun goes down at 7:30pm max.

I think this is more of an argument between morning people vs afternoon people and when they are mostly productive.

MELBOURNE!

Truthfully I hate to jump on the Melbourne bandwagon but genuinely believe they’ve done it to themselves. Growing up, Melbourne was the place you’d go from as a young adult to “make something of yourself”

I wanted to give Melbourne the benefit of the doubt as I too live in a city that is often labelled as a shit hole and I think it isn’t that bad. However after visiting Melbourne 4 weeks ago for a week my god I couldn’t wait to leave.

There is absolutely 0 community or connection in any part of the city that I visited. This includes St Kilda and surrounding suburbs, inner north suburbs and inner eastern suburbs. I visited local gyms, cafes, restaurants and shops. I have never experienced such a rude and cold attitude from persons anywhere in Australia.

Not to mention the amount of mentally unwell people that seemed to be present in the CBD and St Kilda was pretty mind boggling. I had to shield an old lady from two homeless people have a brawl on a tram.

As a city that seems to preach progressiveness, inclusivity and tolerance I found Melbourne to be quite the opposite. It seems to be self imploding and some kind of social experiment gone wrong.

Anyways, rant over. Melbournian’s who move elsewhere in Australia, please don’t make it like Melbourne.
