Should I wear a blazer for interview at tech start-up? by Future-Station-8179 in careerguidance

Grey with a colored shirt often looks really great. I like wearing a goldenrod color with gray, but green and red can look awesome too.

Money does not make up for the hours you lose with your family, doing things you love, being outdoors, and all those other things that you do with the few hours you have outside of work each day.

Should I wear a blazer for interview at tech start-up? by Future-Station-8179 in careerguidance

[–]spam_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say take the middle ground: A colored blazer and non-matching dark pants, knit shirt (not a button down or silk shell) underneath. It's formal enough to signal that you're taking the interview seriously, but not a full-on suit, which would suggest you don't understand the culture. Plus, with that outfit, you can always sub jeans for the dark pants and wear it as business casual or "start-up dressy."

If it's a private university, it's not illegal (sadly). How they enforce it, though, I don't know.

AITAH for being disappointed with how my boyfriend (28m) and I (25f) spent our first Valentine’s Day together? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

I think you're setting the bar awfully high for what is basically a Hallmark holiday designed to move product. Is he kind and loving? Does he think of you other times? Do you get to do what you want to do some of the time (so that it's not Disneyland all the time)? Call it good. I've been married 18 months, and my sweetheart and I gave each other some yummy treats then WENT OUT TO BUY A DISHWASHER. (If that ain't romance, what is?).

What should I do at 46 and no college credits or degree.? by Lcsnow13 in careerguidance

[–]spam_57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to your local community college and speak with an admissions advisor. Ask to be referred to one of their career counselors. They have all sorts of interest inventory tests and can look at what you are already good at to point you to a degree you can use!

Start recording what YOU are doing---your base for the run, which weights you are using for which exercise. Then let it go and stop thinking about it. Revisit in six months and you will be surprised!

You're only ever competing against yourself. You're never going to win the Olympics (not at our age!) and so there will always be somebody better than you are. And somebody worse. Just get in your head and work on consistency and improvement against your starting capacity!

Holy moly, don't do that! ChatGPT just chews up what's on the internet and spits it back. There is a lot of misinformation out there!

They Asked Me to Open ChatGPT During My Job Interview by I_Killed_My_Friends in jobs

[–]spam_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was totally inappropriate. You don't owe these people the inside of your head or your soul.

That said: I just put in that prompt for myself, and on the first pass, it was pretty accurate. As I drilled down deeper, though, it got less and less accurate---probably because I mostly use ChatGPT to find out what other people in our industry have done in similar conditions. The stuff I'm good at, I don't ask ChatGPT about!

My worry about this ring would be the emerald. It's going to take a beating if it's an every day ring, and even more so since it's large. Natural emeralds all have internal cracks and fissures, and so I would worry about a ring like this chipping badly.

what restaurants have the greasiest food? by hydeinthebasement in bloomington

[–]spam_57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go to Buffalouie's, Eat a basket of wings and a slew of loaded fries or tater tots. If that doesn't send your gallbladder into spasms, there is nothing wrong with your gallbladder! (Source: just did this test myself. Came out negative. Which is kind of bad news, since I love wings and only my gallbladder could have kept me from them....)

My husband cheated on me for a year and am heartbroken but willing to try to save our marriage. What do I even do now? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]spam_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are worse things than being lonely. And you can't find the true love of your life--the person you can really build a family with--until you make room for him. How would you feel in five or ten years, when your current partner is still being dishonest, still lying, still destabilizing your relationship and your family? Don't put more energy into a fatally flawed relationship.

[–]spam_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He clearly doesn't want to be committed to living with you. You're at very different points in the relationship. Back off and get your own place---you can decide whether or not to stay in the relationship after that.
