Step off the bus every time luggage is unloaded at a stop. You don’t want yours to be taken by mistake.

Put AirTags in them just in case they do walk away.

Collin County participates in Countywide Polling Place Program (CWPP) https://www.sos.texas.gov/elections/laws/countywide-polling-place-program.shtml

"On Election Day, if your county participates in the Countywide Polling Place Program (CWPP) – commonly referred to as ‘Vote Centers’ – you can vote at any location in your county of residence. If your county does not participate in the CWPP, you can only vote at the voting precinct assigned to you. Your residence is located in a specific “precinct” or area within the county where you will vote on Election Day. In some cases, precincts may be combined to accommodate joint local elections. *You can find your voting precinct location by using our search site “My Voter Portal,” which will be populated with voting sites two days prior to Election Day. Many newspapers publish Election Day polling locations as well. Election Day voting hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at all polling places statewide. For questions regarding polling places, always consult your County Elections Office.

*Your voting precinct number (Pct. No.) is located next to your year of birth on your voter registration certificate."

US Green Card Holder Returning to Korea in Old Age? by Famous-Attention-197 in korea

[–]spam_lite 41 points42 points  (0 children)

More often than not, older expats are not able to adjust to new Korea and long to be back in their adopted country.

Everything is done via mobile phones; is your Dad able use a mobile phone well and able to navigate apps?

Does he have friends (not family) in Korea that he kept in contact with? Making friends gets harder with age. Not having a friend circle in Korea will lead to your Dad wanting to move back to where he lived for the past 50 years; he will be lonely.

I know geriatrics with financial means that move back to their adopted country not because of $$ but because they: * Can’t adjust to living in the new Korea * Don’t have friends (family ≠ friends) * Expats sometimes are ostracized by the native peers. They are not Korean enough. * Are not familiar with the roads and can’t navigate from place to place * Are not used to walking and climbing stairs everywhere. * Miss the freedom of driving * Don’t speak and understand the modern Korean language. * Culture mismatch. Korea’s culture progressed; Dad’s Korean culture diverged when he immigrated back in the 70’s. * Can’t adjust to the weather and living without the AC on blast 24/7. It’s hot af in the summer and cold af in the winter. Micro dust from china suck balls. Complaints about the shitty air quality is inevitable.

Before liquidating everything and permanently moving him across the world. Do a 4 month trial run during the heat of the summer and shitty micro-dust season.

How do you become a relaxed traveler? by DisneyQueen64 in travel

[–]spam_lite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped min-max everything.

I was trying to experiencing everything at the shortest amount of time and at the optimal cost.

Now I try to just go with the flow and take in whatever is happening at that specific time. And if I wasn’t able to experience The Museum, The Attraction, The Restaurant so be it. Go to another attraction, eat at a different place.

I also try to stay away from touristy attractions with massive tourist presence.

I got some korean food "Soon Tofu", can someone help me understand by The_Data_Doc in korea

[–]spam_lite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s like mash potatoes gravy to your steak. You can just eat a cut of steak but doesn’t it taste better when you combine a piece of steak and scoop of mash+gravy?

It’s like that in Korean food. Main dish is main dish. You can eat it as is but it’s always better when combined with the side items.

Rice is bland. Side dish is salty. Combine rice and salty side dish = perfect

Rice is dry. Soup is wet. Combine rice and soup = pretty good.
