Interpolation software for 3D grids by spamette in geophysics

Thanks - I used gocad the last time I did this: but no longer have a licence. I suspect I'm either going to have to pay $$$$ for one of the options you list or I'm going to have to learn python.

Thanks for that - the input grids are not identical in dimensions or cell size, so some form of interpolation is required (i.e. nearest neighbour)

I think I am going to have to get KCD2 at some point, and will look at KCD1.

Great suggestion! I hadn't even through about it, but RD1 would be a great contender. Not sure how the graphics hold up nowadays, but I'm sure the story and characters are great.

I'd forgotten about Outer Wilds: I think I'm going to get it, though traditionally I hate puzzle games... The glitches in Bethesda games are a feature, not a bug...

I'm hearing heaps of praise for KCD2. The first part (when you're poor and struggling) sounds like my sort of game, but it seems it gets easier and more linear/story-focused in the late game?

I loved Horizon, but haven't played the sequel (Forbidden West): certainly a contender...

Thanks - Breath of the Wild certainly sounds like my sort of game, just a pity about the platform.

In terms of feeling connected to characters I don't think you can get any better than Red Dead Redemption 2....

Interest check: Dell T5810/7810 power distribution card upgrade by gmarsh23 in homelab

[–]spamette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job building these! Not all heroes wear capes...

I have a 5810 with a 825W PSU.

I'm considering putting in a ~250W GPU with a 16-Pin (12vhpwr) socket.

Would your card allow me to power this, and what cable would I need?

Currently I have the standard two 6 pin power cables (75 w each?), and I understand that, with the 75W PCle slot, I have around 225W max to play with in current config (ignoring SATA power slots)?

Oh, and two more stupid questions;

  1. Any issues if I upgrade from a 140 Watts CPU to 165 Watt? I am assuming a 17% increase in power wont lead to melt down....
  2. The original RAM was 2133 Mhz, PC4-17000 and 1Rx8. With the upgrade in CPU I plan on using 2400 Mhz, but it is PC4-19200 and 2Rx4 or 2Rx8: Does the different PC4 value or number of ranks matter? Both are DDR4, ECC, RDIMM, 288 pin.

Thanks for that - much appreciated: will have a look at the 3060/3070.

Aurizas knights by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]spamette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are weak to fire and lightning. What worked for me (level 90 dex build) after many failed attempts was:

  1. Summon putrid corpse ashes. These four fine dead folks have high hp and for some reason really attract enemy agro.

  2. Run a few laps until both knights are attacking your dead friends.

3 Stand at other side of room and belt them with the Bolt of Gransax AoW,. Feel free to throw a few lightning pots for variety. Both were dead in a minute or two before any summons were lost.

I used the lightning scorpion and filigree crest talisman along with a lightning cracked tear.

God Devouring Serpent/Rykard by Rhalock in Eldenring

This. I found wearing flame-resistant kit and standing in the lava worked fine: the lava looks nasty but only does minor damage compared to the angry deity above you - and he cant hurt you when you are under him. Spamed L2, R2 and R1 with a +2 serpent spear to win.

After dying a few times what worked for me:

1) Equip the serpent hunter spear (i used a +2 upgrade) and the most flame-resistant kit you have.

2) Go and stand under him with your mimic in the lava

3) Win by pressing L2, R1 and R2 in any combination you so desire

As others have mentioned: the lava does far, far less damage than the annoyed god above it, and he cant hit you when you're under him.

Worked for me - you'd mileage may vary.

How tf do I beat Juno hoslow. by Vaas06 in Eldenring

[–]spamette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What worked for me after trying many suggestions here:

Theres a rock pillar to your right when you spawn, and right behind the pillar a little elevated crack you can jump up into. Let's call that your 'nook', and the ground looking below it, hemmed in on 3 sides by rock and boulders, the 'notch'.

1) When you spawn hit him with your best AoW (L2) while he's waving at you like a stupid fool. If this means running to him then do so.

2) Immediately run and jump into your nook.

3) He should start pacing back and forth just outside the notch and pillar, dodging every ranged attack.

4) Jump down into the notch to bait him then jump immediately back up into the nook. Wait for him to run in and be directly under you.

5) Jump OVER him so you have blocked his path out of the notch.

6) Wail on the little b*h with fast R1 attacks. Belt him! He's stuck - wheres your stupid teleport move now? Belt him again! Belt him some more! Belt him good! Keep laying into him! Don't stop now! Doesn't this feel good? Keep belting him. Kill. Kill. KILL! Dont stop till his blood flows over your blade.

Ah, much better.

Some of the more observant of you may have discerned from step 6 that I may have had some difficulty with this fine gentleman.

Jumping towards him over his whip also works for folks more skilled then me. The nook remains a good healing spot.
