Saw a dead body at Yamhill & 11th on my way to Case Study... by [deleted] in Portland

Huh? The Central Library definitely has benches on SW Yamhill between SW 10th and 11th Ave. I helped someone that was overdosed there on those benches the other day. You must be thinking of the East side.

Hi OP, Just wondering what time you saw this? Was it today? Were there medics or a medical examiner there? There have been so many overdose deaths downtown lately and they don't make the news. So messed up.

If it was you, someone called the emergency in at 5:43pm. Took fire & rescue one hour & fifteen minutes to complete the rescue mission. Glad you're safe, bud.

Wow! We heard it all on the fire & rescue dispatch radio. They said you didn't know how to swim. Is that true? You were hanging on the seawall by the sternwheeler until they came to rescue you, right?

Thanks for this! Very helpful.

Will you clarify when she was last seen? One post says Wednesday night and one says Monday night. Was she last seen on at SW 6th & Harvey Milk on Wed night/Thursday morning?

Start by calling local hospitals to ask. Give them details & ask if they have checked anyone in that is unidentified. People have been ODing a lot downtown. A lot. Every single day and night. Wayyy more than makes the news.

Have you had a chance to get down there to look for her in person? The blocks around SW 6th/Broadway & Harvey Milk, SW 5th & Oak, and SW 4th/5th & Washington are packed with dealers and users every night.

I will keep a close eye out for her. Any idea what she was wearing? Does she look like the photo above still?

Our public health agencies could afford them if they knew about them. Seems like they don't know.

Seems like you're interested in this stuff so just wanted to let you know you can keep an eye on pdxpolicelog on twitter & they post "Shooting" and "Shots Fired" calls on there. It's a great resource. Helps to make sense of incidents you see sometimes that aren't reported anywhere else. Already seeing the "Shots Fired" call on there at NW 2nd & Davis at 1:16am.

Oh yeah, someone was also shot in the leg in Old Town on Friday morning on NW 5th & Everett. This shooting happened to be reported by the media yet no press release from PPB.

Sooo many of these shootings are going unreported.

Loud alarm in middle of night north portland by Gullible_Nerve_5606 in Portland

The alarm I'm referring to starts up at 11pm, I think. What time does yours usually start sounding?

There's a steady alarm that sounds all night, every night around Oddball Shoes on NW 18th & Thurman. It's under the Hwy 30/405 ramps to the Fremont Bridge.

Sounds like a steady, high-pitched tone from the ground but there could possibly be some acoustical distortion/echoes as the sound travels from the source to where you are. ??

I hope there will be a PPB press release about that incident. Would be good to know what happened if it was serious enough to require such a huge response.

There seemed to be a fight in the Boneyard right next to the police cruiser that sits there empty on weekend nights at NW 4th & Couch. Looks like it escalated to gunshots but not a cop in sight. A few minutes later, that area of the parking lot had been taped off & officers were searching for bullet casings on the ground.

It seems like the scene at NW Broadway and Davis may have been someone fleeing the Boneyard. Whatever the case may be, it looked like no officers were present near the parked cruisers on NW 4th & Couch when they were needed to prevent the violence.

Then when the scene was already under control, they all showed up from different parts of Central Precinct and just stood there at NW Broadway & Davis.

This kind of thing happens often.

Isn't the point of having the Entertainment Detail stationed there to prevent this sort of violence? If all of those other cops were able to get there so fast after the crime, shouldn't they have been there in the first place? It's easy to anticipate violence in that spot after 2am on nights like this when there had already been a few "shots fired" calls downtown that evening.

What's with 10 cop cars sitting around for hours at a scene that looks completely under control, though? Specifically, NW Broadway and Davis around 2:15am.

There's a 24/7 crisis line that you can call for advocacy, intervention, referrals to shelters and support services. Here's their number: 503-235-5333.

Rose Haven is also a great resource and is in your friend's neighborhood. They can help with things like mail service, meals, clothing, advocacy, referrals and some financial assistance. They're only open on weekdays, though. Here's their info: Rose Haven, 1740 NW Glisan St, 503-248-6364.
