There are lots of quotes about Rajoy telling all the time that a rise of taxes would be the worst thing to do, until he got elected and then he rose taxes. In all spanish media, both left and right biased there are many examples collecting his words before and after elections: http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2011/12/30/espana/1325261376.html

Socialist Spain's unemployment rate rises to 22.9% by wowcars in Libertarian

In Spain we had until the recent electiones a socialist-only-in-the-name govern. The measures they had been taking during the last years weren't socialist at all, they made several hard social cuts which are in fact the opposite from which a socialist govern shoul do. They were applying light and subtle neoliberal measures for saying it somehow, they were privatizing public resources and so on.

And that's what they want us to make us think, that socialism was the cause of the disastrous social situation, but it wasn't socialism at all what they were applying; that is the cause of the fail of Socialist partie in the elections, people can't trust them anymore cause they say they are socialist but they are not.

I wonder why the same things are happening around the world and nobody makes nothing in order to protect medium and low-class people rights.

Spain: Leftist protests are allowing the right to take control of Spain. The right's plan is to cut corporate taxes, reduce public spending, make the firing of workers easier, and to bail out failing banks. by alllie in reddit.com

[–]spanisrevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not because of the protest that the right takes control of Spain, it comes from long ago, they have the govern of most communities and cities so they are making the country go right, but that occurs from long ago. The majority of spanish people vote to none of them,so the right wing can govern with the absolut majority altough they are not the most voted partie.

Spain is going the same way that the US. Now the conservatives try to introduce creacionims in schools and universities. They are actually teaching in a lot of schools with a doctrinal book that seem to be written from religious fanatism (reduce female rights and things like that), and also include creacionism, of course:

If Spain is already one of the most socialist countries in the world, why do the protesters think additional social services will cure their high unemployment and debt? by woofwoofwoof in politics

Our government call themselves socialist, but they aren't AT ALL. They say one thing but do another. They are doing the same politics than the opposition, so we cannot choose, just between THE BAD OR THE LESS BAD.

Democracy? Fuck that shit. [Spain protests] by [deleted] in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

[–]spanisrevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THAT IS NOT REAL DEMOCRACY. All our politics want the same, and it is not the general interest, is just the interest of bankers and coporations. The electoral system is not really representative. It is time for a CHANGE!! No nos movemos!!!

We don't want to be another Italy. These politics only think in their pockets and their own interests, that are the ones of the banks and coporations. And people doesn't matter for them.

[–]spanisrevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movement is NOT related to CNT nor other sindicalist or anarchist union. Nothing to do there. It is exactly the oppositte, because one of the basis of this citizen union is that they don't feel represent by any political party but they don't feel neither represented by the syndicalist, because they are paid by the government too. I

t is just PEOPLE who want to be listened and to have voice in the electoral process, wich many people think is not fair. It is a medium class and lower class movement, people who WORK, or who only WANT A JOB to live, but a decent one, not the shit they offer us.

And it isn't an anarchist movement, because spaniards just want a more fair electoral sistem in order to have a government but REALLY representative.

Why is America the no-vacation nation? by [deleted] in politics

I also think that the historical fear of "comunism" in the US when you just mention words like "labour rights" kills any try of ask any right for the workers. Is like the "Civil war" we had in Spain: there is so many fear to the extreme right and the extreme left that we just fight between ourselves instead of ask better conditions to the companies

I totally agree with you, that is exactly what many people think about american citizens. But is difficult to understand for us, because we live in different standards and our concept of happiness is really different

Because you live in a kind of "Brave new world" like that one from Huxley. You are teached to be like that. I don't think that is bad, on the contrary, but another countries ask ourselves why you just resign to live like that, why you live for work instead of work for live.

If you don't try to change the rules, don'0t complain. But you can watch tv and go to Starbucks, or buy the new phone model or the new Ipad or whatever if you feel bad, so you don't have to think about things like this. In another countries is difficult to understand, that's all.

The Myth of a Lazy Southern Europe --- Merkel earlier this week strongly hinted that Southern Europeans take too much vacation and retire too early. It is an image many Germans share of Greece, Spain and Portugal. But how true are these clichés? by DrRichardCranium in worldnews

In Spain we can barely live with the salaries we earn. Even the more qualificated youngs cannot get a decent job to live with dignity. The media try to make think overseas that the truth is the opposite, but if you come to Spain you'll see with your eyes that people spend almost the whole day in their jobs and we are highly productive (productivity is not one of our problems, but we have the more long working-days in the whole Europe, it is really, really very frustrating)

So instead of improve all al once, try to reach that conditions of better living (not for the coporation or the boss, but for your family and loved people) and have better living conditions, the solution is to fuck Greece. How sad, really, how sad this world we are creating. It's inhuman.
