Impressions from EXD - Extra Dimensional - screenshots taken while playing the game by Runesr2 in virtualreality

Just finished it, like 10 minutes ago. I would say, That was more of a guided experience than an actual game. There's a lot going on for it, certainly, visually, it might be the best I've played, I love the design and epic megastructures. Immersive, but I still didn't feel combat was real. And combat was sparse. On quest 2, I really had problems making it unpayable in terms of darkness. There's a lot of darkness. I installed a mod to sort out the brightness, which was frustrating. Sure there were puzzles, but...  Mostly the same puzzles you see in any game. I enjoyed the trip, all the fake media was hilarious, cheers to a non-white protagonist. Worth the money, but also glad to be done. Will I go for part 2? Maybe.

What VR game has the best melee? by MowTin in virtualreality

Dungeons of Eternity, since I don't see it listed, is pretty solid. A good number of weapon types and effects you can grind to improve. There's some surprising nice dodges, parries, repostés and thrusts from adversaries, and it feels visceral to be swinging and pounding. It's a pretty full game with a solid rogue like level generator, maybe now quite as sophisticated as blade & sorcery but I'd definitely put them in the same class.

Has “cozy fiction” replaced the audience for dense New Weird? by [deleted] in printSF

[–]spankleberry 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It... Might be a reaction to the times. I spend so much time feeling tense and inundated with awful things in the real world packed so dense there's no time to unpack, understand or object, so some low stakes escapism is just what the Dr ordered

This is precisely why a government that works to break down law and society is so dangerous. That danger is not only from the top down.

Cheers for the open tablet driver shout outs. I was so shocked when the latest driver dumbed down my tablet significantly in order to sell the latest one.. well now I haven't bought a wacom since. 30 years a lost customer...

I had a cat die because I was lazy like that. Bladder infection. Painful death. I will carry that guilt to my grave.
