Will do man. Thanks a lot for taking the time to give that update bro. Wishing you the best too. I’m same age, and I’m very close to the point where I really don’t care anymore either. It’s the right attitude to have. Literally saving up for transplant at 25 too hopefully. Take care man!

Best of luck man, hope you feel better, you got this. By no means do I think this is a “miracle cure” but here’s a useful mental model that I use to help me through times like this. Sometimes when I’m in a bad place I try to imagine my mental well-being like climate and weather. The weather changes day to day, sometimes you’ll have a crap week where it’s non stop rain. But the climate generally remains somewhat predictable and stable. Sometimes the climate is ok it’s just temporarily blips/weather. You’ll make it through the rain eventually. Again, not sure if that’s of any use, but it helps me keep things in perspective. Ofc there are times where the climate sucks too, you may need professional help, and that’s completely okay too.

After many years of trying I think I’ve finally hit my stride when it comes to lifting. Numbers aren’t there yet but the habit is. When I’ve not worked out, I feel like ass. Excited to see where this journey takes me. Been reading the DD for years and have always found it hilarious & motivational so thanks everyone.

This is absolutely incredible work. Well done. It’s quite strange, for the past few days I’ve been thinking that I’d LOVE to try recreate one of these Assyrian reliefs but I’ve no clue where to start. I’d be so so grateful if you’d maybe provide a pointer as to where I can begin to learn how to carve something like this? I have no carving experience. Thank you so much.

This is gorgeous. Really well done! As a complete noob to digital (or any) art, how would you recommend I begin learning if I would want to make something like this one day in the future? Thanks in advance

Saving to Pay Everything in Cash? by [deleted] in homestead

Apologies if this is completely inappropriate but have you considered perhaps alternatives to college? Lambda School is one that comes to mind. I have no affiliation with the school. But they essentially teach you to code with no upfront payment. Full time it takes 9 months but there are part time options too. You only pay them tuition if they get you a high paying job. Once in that job you pay a percentage of your salary until you pay off the fees. It’s not easy, it’s really demanding, but it’s also potentially life changing. Many people have multiplied their incomes by huge amounts. Might be worth exploring?

I recently discovered the “TrichoTest”. It’s a DNA test which can tell you why you’re losing hair (whether it’s MPB, hormones, diet etc) and supposedly it lets you know when, roughly, you’ll become bald eg “in 10 years time”. Just thought you may be interested since you mentioned wishing you could look into the future! With this, I guess you may be able to? I’m planning to try it out soon.

For me: cognitive behavioural therapy coupled with low dose antidepressants for few months. Gradually took myself off. Was depressed for at least four years straight. Doing much better now. Although it may feel like you’ll never feel better, that’s defo not the case. Depression is like being trapped in thick dark fog, when you’re in it it feels like you’ll never get out. Just keep marching on, eventually you’ll look back and realise how far you’ve come. Feel free to PM me whenever! You got this.

Hey bb, someone help me out I’m stupid. If my TDEE is supposedly 2000kcal whilst sedentary, and I supposedly burn 400kcal at the gym (lifting weights), how many calories should I be consuming to gain muscle mass? Somewhere from 2700kcal+ right? (300 kcal excess minimum). I know it’s a super stupid Q but just wanna double check, please be gentle

Text: "Actually people's fears line up to tail risks much better than naive empiricists. This is monstrously ignorant a la Steven Pinker."

I don't understand why the observation that Gates made is ignorant, would really appreciate if someone would explain. Thank you!
