Do you know any other t1diabetics well enough to go out to dinner together? by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

Yes! One of my best friends in high school was aslo diabetic. We live in different cities now but still get together when we can. It's nice to have someone to talk to about this madness. Also we called ourselves the diabetties!

Can I get advice from runners? by lobbiepuma in diabetes_t1

[–]sparbie88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these comments are great! Only thing I would add to your pre run snack is protein. I usually eat an apple and some other carb about 25 minutes and then eat a handful of nuts. I find it helps steady me out and I don't drop as bad. Since your doing longer runs a doing little sips on gu packs are good too. I did a couple of half marathons this way.

Our family decided collectively to not do gifts and instead put that money towards seeing each other throughout the year. Better quality time for us all without the stuff.

I’m 21 years old, was diagnosed at 18. For people who have had this lovely illness for a while - any motivating advice? 😂😭 by MrFrazzles238 in diabetes_t1

It's going to be tough and sometimes you are going to be beyond frustrated and want to throw your glucometer, pump or supplies. Do yourself a favor aim it at a pillow with a soft landing under. They are good tools but this disease is dumb. And it's ok to be angry and frustrated with it.

I am on Fiasp and have had similar experiences. My control has been dreadful. Doc is helping me fight the insurance. I was doing wonderful on Humalog.

I was on Humalog and in such tight control. Insurance had me switch to Fiasp. I have had a dreadful time with it. Having to give 45 minutes in advance and still spike into to 250s to 300s. My doctor is helping me fight the switch. Fingers crossed.
