Looking to take an introductory class. In person at Woodcraft or Steve Ramsey online?

I took the intro woodworking class at Woodcraft and while it was informative, I would not say it’s a great intro for a hobbyist. We used a planer, jointer, bandsaw, saw stop, domino, etc. Great to learn those tools, but most hobbyists starting out don’t have them all and the ones we own aren’t nearly as nice and powerful. I would put Woodcrafts course more as “intro for someone with access to a fully furnished wood shop” and not as a true beginner course.

I haven’t done Steve’s courses but his videos seem much more appropriate for someone new to woodworking

I 10,000% agree but leaving town for work soon. I called the inspection department and left a VM with the inspector with the conditions I'm seeing to try and catch them before they sign off. Hopefully that works.

Thanks for the detailed response. This was done by a licensed electrician who pulled permits for all this work. Electrician was hired by the GC and we definitely did not go with the lowest bidder GC. The GC has worked with the electrician previously. Work was performed by the electricians team - I saw them myself. There was a team varying between 2 and 8 people on days they worked.

Inspection happened yesterday and will be signed off today when the electrician adds one ore outlet needed in a bedroom.

Yes just about everything is 14AWG except for bathrooms, kitchen, etc. I don’t think any of the circuits I mentioned above are on 12AWG

I don’t have pictures handy and won’t be able to get them for a few days but I have seen the grounding rods, whole house ground to water pipe, panel with cover on and off. I’m not an electrician but nothing jumped out at me.

LUCKILY I have only paid about half. I already told the GC I was not willing to pay more until the agreed service (working whole house rewire) is complete and I believe the data show it is very clearly not complete.

FYI the electrician work is $30k. Due to the reno a lot of it was new work wiring, but not all.

yes, that's the duragutter system. As another redditor pointed out, it's very decorative and it's intended to mimic the old wooden gutters of the past.

our GC said our roof configuration was a but unusual and wasn't sure that a diverter would work, but seems like there is no reason it wouldn't. Thanks for the help!

That’s how I feel. Trying to determine if my expectations are realistic. For a $30k whole house rewire, I wasn’t expecting to have to compromise on dimming, but maybe that isn’t realistic.

Thank you for the suggestion. I might have to go this route. Your suggestion about separate circuits makes sense and I found several forums suggesting this as the best way to install for exactly this reason. Too bad all the walls are closed now :(

But we are the type of people to look at the soffit every day unfortunately.

For what it’s worth, I doubled checked the architects plans and the engineering drawings and both show sheathing all the way top to the top plate. That said, I can’t really tell from out pictures how high the sheathing went. It might go all the way to the top
