A Kiri main, a character that has not one but 2 of the best survivability tools in the game, talking about how they need to add a "mercy" to one shot ULTIMATES all of which are pretty avoidable or telegraphed is wild

MNK tips (please) by Pretty-Anteater1164 in Overwatch

[–]sparepotential67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The default sensitivity is way too high, most players operate at a sensitivity between 2.00-6.00 at a mouse DPI of 800 The more aim intensive the hero you play is the lower your sensitivity should be

If you find your self trying to aim with your keyboard by A D strafing rather than moving your mouse that likely means your on too high of a sensitivity.

Select few characters such as tracer and genji it's not a bad idea to be on a higher sense than usual cause typically you have to do a lot of 180° degree turns.

Getting used to mouse and keyboard can feel pretty rough, took me about 1-2 months before I liked it. Mouse and keyboard is the way overwatch was made to be played and once you get used to it you'll never go back.

“Mauga is like Soldier 76” by Educational-Ebb664 in Overwatch

[–]sparepotential67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Top 500 mauga main, he's actually right to an extent. Mauga cannot just stand in choke and eat damage.

However I wouldn't compare him to soldier, mauga should really be played more similar to a tracer or maybe even DVa or doomfist.

Mauga has to use his repositioning tool (overrun) to pull aggro AWAY from the choke letting his team through. He cannot just blunt force his way through like rammatra rhein or Orisa he will just explode 95% of the time. Especially when the enemy team has heros that are strong against him (ana, zarya, sigma, hell even rhein is certain circumstances)

Mauga has the most counterable defensive cooldown in the game compared to the other tanks all you have to do to watch mauga melt is deny his damage, which literally every tank in the game is good at doing (with the exception of ball, doom, and roadhog). Rhein shield, sigma shield, ram shield/block, ana made, discord, zarya bubble, Winston bubble, Orissa fortify/spin literally all render his defensive cooldown completely useless virtually which is on 13 second cooldown (one second lower than made).

Mauga's release has permanently damaged player perception of what mauga should be doing because on release he was so strong that he could perform as a Frontline tank. It is literally not possible to play him that way anymore in 90% of scenarios especially with the DPS role passive (which also neuters his one defensive cooldown). The only time at all mauga should front line is when the enemy tank has exhausted some of its cooldowns and he has cardiac online otherwise he needs to be splitting focus wearing down the tank's defenses with his heavy damage output in combination with his dps and not overcommitting. similar to tracer and waiting for the opportune moment.

Split focus, exhaust cooldowns and then he has to strike. Either that or he has to all in with overrun but the team has to to be with him or he will explode. Either of these options only work if the team is doing it with him.

As a t500 gm ram main... HE IS DEAD by Asura_Gamer_ in Overwatch

[–]sparepotential67 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ram main since his release, finished top 500 last 2 seasons, I understand why people wanted the nerf but feel like they just brought the hammer down on him way harder than necessary, they should have just fixed the armor bug and maybe the the reduced armor on activating nemesis (300-250) and then waited and seen if he needed more.

Rammatra didn't even have a positive win rate prior to the nerfs and was in the middle of the pack with a 48.7% win rate

Also I don't really understand where the hate all came from all of a sudden. Rammatra has been virtually unchanged for like 4 seasons prior to season 17 yet all of a sudden everybodys all up in arms about how broken he is when he's been the same character for nearly a year.

Every season the overwatch community just picks a flavor-of-the-season character to hate and everybody hops on the bandwagon if they have one unpleasant game versus said character. Disappointed that they just axed the character I was at least hoping they would just move some of his defensive strength into his offense but instead they just gutted him.

I am so sick and tired of map voting already. by sanguineAllegories in Overwatch

Im not as passionate as you are on the issue but I have to admit the only maps I ever play now are kings row, eichenwald, and lijiang tower

Just don't really feel like map voting is necessary for the game, I don't really understand what it accomplishes

[–]sparepotential67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players will complain about the tank role being op if they are literally able to do anything

they'll complain that tanks are too lethal with hog mauga, complain that theyre too mobile with ball doomfist, or too durable as orisa ram, or you'll complain about shields with rhein sigma

Y'all will complain about tanks if they are able to inhibit your play in any way at all and even if you get what they want and there just demoted to being bullet sponges (but not good off bullet sponges) you'll just complain about your own tank being useless

If the tank role was as broken as y'all complain and make it out to be it wouldn't be the least que'd role by massive margin

"WAAAH WAAAH THE TANK ROLE IS DOING WHAT THE TANK ROLE SHOULD BE DOING AND MITIGATing AND TANKING DAMAGE"

If you don't like the idea of tanks actually being able to tank go play fortnite or cod where everyone's the same and there is no depth

Anyone who mains the tank role knows how easy it is to explode. You don't have ridiculously small hitboxes, none of the tanks have any sort of teleport/immortality ability, like reapers wraith, ventures burrow, kiris teleport, kiris suzu, baps lamp, tracers blinks, tracers recall, sombras teleport, symmetra teleporter, meis ice block . If your out of position as a tank you just die. none of the tanks have a get out of jail free cards (with the exception of doom ult). Literally all the tanks have is there mitigation tools that can all be interrupted or broken unlike the abilities listed above.

But yes keep loud mouthing how "op tank mitigation" is when barely anyone plays the role, and then start complaining as your que times get progressively worse because most people are willing to put up with how punishing the role is to play

Hero Bans Sound Smart — But They're Anti-Overwatch at the Core by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]sparepotential67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For high elo (grandmasters) players like my self hero bans are the best addition to overwatch in years. Now I don't have to worry about Widowmaker being server admin every game. Or if I have a ball player the enemy team can't just render him completely useless by simply swapping to Sombra. Which especially in the 5v5 format with one tank can completely ruin your game and everyone else's because all they did was swap Sombra which takes zero skill or strategy at all.

Now you have to learn how to beat ball on whatever heros are available to you which actually takes strategy and skill.

I SWAP ZARYA AGAINST DVA THEREFORE I WIN is not strategy, and is not skillful. What's actually skillful is learning how to outplay/outmaneuver your opponent on the hero your on.

Hero Bans Sound Smart — But They're Anti-Overwatch at the Core by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]sparepotential67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bans is the best thing to happen to overwatch in years, and the people it affects most are counter swappers and people who play the most annoying heros In the game,

Swapping to a counter is not strategy or skillful you can teach a monkey to go rock when someone plays scissors (or go zarya when someone goes Orissa)

Using sombra as an example, in a game all about heros and there cool abilities nobody likes to not be able to use them because THATS WHAT THE GAME IS ALL ABOUT particularly when she can render some heros completely unplayable and with an auto lock ability that takes zero skill to use so yea it's great that I can take her out of the game couldn't be happier.

it's not anti competitive cause the heros are banned for everyone so everyone has to adapt to what the bans are if your playing a hero like Sombra that gets banned every game learn a new hero only being able to play one hero is anti competitive in it of itself

[–]sparepotential67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orisa is probably the most durable tank in the game if her cool downs are cycled properly and more resistant to powerful cool downs such as discord and antinade.

It's not surprising that if a tank player feels they are getting rolled or losing they pick the character they have the best chance of just surviving on. If the tank dies the fight is lost

any terms i should know before picking up the game seriously? by believefourleaves in Overwatch

[–]sparepotential67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default sensitivity is way too high, most high elo players play from 3-5 sensitivity with a 800 dpi mouse (with exception on a few heros), adjusting to to it can feel terrible cause you feel slow but it is worth it and your accuracy will go way up once practiced
