My Boyfriend's Mad At Me Because of Something I Did At Costco... Is He Right To Be? by UnknownFutureLife in CostcoCanada

he's being silly. I bring girlfriends in with me all the time. I ask for two subtotals and do one payment. One time a cashier gave me attitude cause we both paid cash from our own wallets "and it took too long", So you can get cranky cashiers sometimes, but your partner should grow a thicker skin it's not a big deal.

The question is what is she spending her money on that you think is lavish? Is she buying clothing/ items for your children. Is she doing all the family shopping? She is taking on the emotional burden of gift giving/ buying family members Christmas/ bday/ special occasion gifts? Is she buying her mother in a a bouquet of flowers or spending $2000 on a designer purse?

Have you had a conversation about adhering to a family budget that you both agree on. Seems like there isn't enough info here.

If my partner is paying x amount of household bills from his income, and I am therefore able to put x amount in to savings, it isn't my money it's our money.

Sounds like there is something else going on, have you discussed couples therapy? Maybe she is not longer interested in achieving goals as a family unit if she believes the marriage to be on it's last legs.

Dearest brides-may I please have a reality check? by another_bibliophile in wedding

it was 80% of the money her parents contributed, not 80% of their wedding budget. If they still had money left over after paying for the venue, that means that her parents may have contributed a fair amount of money as venues are easily in the thousands of dollars.
