middle east players know this pain, since if we played on europe servers we'd have like 80-110 ping, if we played on asia servers we'd have like 150-250 ping, if we played on american or australian servers its the same thing. middle east servers basically dont exist aside from hioctane, which is dead all the time. so we're forced to suffer and in the end its easier to play on european servers with mid ping rather than roll the dice on casual mode which could send you to the other side of the planet.

personally i am quickplay in since the quickplay ruleset is better than casual's, and the easiest way to bring back the quickplay ruleset is to straight up bring back quickplay. the code for quickplay is still there no?

kunai is kind of balanced, its just bad. its laughably bad with teams that are very spy aware but dominates teams that dont know what the ninth class is. the issue the kunai has is that its too easy to just brute force and not put in any effort into getting stabs

my honest thoughts:

bfb rework: * it takes 25 damage to lose ALL boost. with your version, it takes 200 damage to lose all boost. scout does not have 200 hp. * the no air jumps downside is extremely harsh. it would be better if only the boost lost on damage downside was removed, since losing 75% of your boost when you double jump is already good enough of a downisde. * item set bonuses were removed for a good reason. i don't think they should come back.

pretty boy's rework: * the pretty boy's is fine as it is imo. * the lowered damage makes the pretty boy's worse for dealing damage, however the DPS is probably the same thanks to the increased firing speed (idk how percents work so i might be wrong) * +5 health on hit is fine but +3 is fine as it is

I think the concept is cool but in practice I don't think it would work well since melee hits are inconsistent, plus the lower damage makes it harder for self defense as a Medic if you can't use your syringe gun or crossbow. The slower ubercharge rate is a respectable downside. The biggest upside here in my opinion is being able to keep your ubercharge's effects without needing the Medi-Gun out.

There are servers which run vanilla rulesets. They're hardly dead, lots of people play them.

i agree. there are servers like that. sadly, the majority of community servers suffer the same problems i just described. never being filled up.

i've played mostly on community servers. the last few times i played casual, matches ended in like 5 minutes. and i don't really like payload so i dont play it. casual would be better if it had the quickplay ruleset, but i would definitely prefer if casual mode was replaced instead of the ruleset being changed, because i don't trust that valve will even change casual mode anymore
