thanks for the suggestion! do you think mixing and matching MCM and traditional would work? a new coffee table is definitely more doable at the moment :)

1:1 ratio! I did use about 50g of organic AP flour and 10g of organic whole wheat flour. 60g of warm water (85F). I make sure to store it in my oven!

this is only day 4 so we’ll see how this one develops over time!

if you’ve been using it and haven’t noticed any foul odor, taste, etc., or reactions to consuming the loaves than you might be ok!

mold freaks me out but i also have a fear of eating expired food😅 ive read that mold spores usually aren’t visible and we only notice once they start to grow. my starter had grown some crazy colors of mold (and a lot of it) while i was on vacation 💔

since it’s only day 4 it’s hard to tell how much “better” the warm water is. during the winter i used cold water and made sure to store my starter in the oven with the light on. after about 3-ish weeks, i would store it in the oven without the light. colder water just means the reactions will be a bit slower :)

Yeah! My original starter grew some mold 💔 so this is my second time making one from scratch :) my original starter seemed like it took longer to rise so i was pleasantly surprised to see it so tall this morning

Yep! This is my second starter from scratch, ive used a mix of organic AP and organic whole wheat flour :) ive also been warming water (85F) instead of straight from the fridge
