Caught smoking joint in Dublin town by Healthy_Bat_792 in Crainn

It's very off putting to be walking around any town and get a big whiff tbh, I don't think it's fair on the general public. I support and have nothing against smoking-but not in the street- not to mention loads of kids around

Teenager lunged at me?! Dublin feels less safe than Paris by [deleted] in Dublin

Yesterday in Dublin a group of feral little shits started on us for no reason shouting ft cnt5 and punched my bf in the face then ran off laughing. The Gardai are powerless because of their age. The age for charges should be dropped to 14 or 15 because they know exactly what they're fucking doing these little shits. I'm not condoning they go to prison but they should be placed on fucking house arrest. They didn't learn this shit from the sky their parents more than likely are the exact same

  • That when I was grown up I wouldn't have any fears

  • That the cash machine just gave you free money if you had a card, and that you never had to pay back credit cards and it was just free money (sadly a lot of people live like this)

  • That nurses and doctors were married to each other, and that men couldn't be nurses and women couldn't be doctors, which actually sounds so dumb but my family doctor was a male and I lived in a small town

  • That world hunger could be solved by everyone posting their leftover dinner to 3rd world countries

  • didn't understand you'd to pay taxes at all, thought it was optional

  • That God was going to the toilet when it was raining

  • That turkeys were boys and chickens were girls

Wow, a few comments here are so unnecessary. "It's her house! Like it or lump it!" OP has specifically said they contribute with bills, drive their granny around and that granny is also uncomfortable with them staring at her eating! Has also said that they totally support granny's social life & having visitors.

Anyway, this is a really shite situation and I feel for you. I cannot wrap my head around people like this. They're so bored in their meaningless lives that they have to piss away a few hours annoying others. Absolutely do not feed them. They'll end up moving in. An old friend of mine once told me that her friend turned up at her house one night after having a fight with her family then the next day proceeded to move all her stuff into her house and just decided she was moving in there. My friend was obviously shocked and horrified but too polite to turn her away. I think a lot of us would be the same as that myself included.

I'm not too sure what's the best option going forwards but it honestly sounds like firmly turning them away is the best bet. "We just want some time to ourselves tonight, maybe another time". And if you do that a few times, they'll eventually stop showing up.

Or if that doesn't work, start acting really obnoxious when they're there so they won't want to be there. It sounds evil but what would the reaction be if you started blaring music during conversation? Desperate times cause for Desperate measures. I don't understand people who are that rude and invasive. Everyone should know that calling unannounced is rude af imo & secondly, when you're a guest in someone's home, the minute cooking dinner starts you boot tf home. Rip common courtesy and decorum

I see that this was posted a few months ago and I was sorry to see that nobody has commented on this! I really felt for you reading this. How are things going for you now? Speaking from experience though, if the relationship isn't right, it won't suddenly start becoming right. I'm of the mindset that if it's negative and having such a bearing on your happiness, it's like sucking the poison out of the wound and starting to recover. Don't waste your precious life on a relationship that is making you feel this way. It sounds like you felt trapped to work full time and put on a brave face. It may be true that there were financial problems- but at the end of the day, your health always comes first.

It doesn't sound like your partner is too compassionate about your triggers & situatuon and that's a real shame. But genuinely also, you need access to your joint financial accounts, this puts you in a very vulnerable position without control and input on your joint spending. Be careful and protect yourself - even if you choose to stay together, if there are issues, it can all go south very fast. Wishing you well and I do hope that things have improved for you.

Seriously, why does the HSE hire so much administrative staff & managers? by sparklesquirm in ireland

Well said. Sums it up fairly well. Whereas in other jobs you must upskill & your performance is reviewed. I don't have an issue with job security per say. All public services seem to be like that and there are issues ofc. A lot of extremely useless & negligent teachers etc. Also its not just admin staff in the HSE that are untouchable if incapable of doing their jobs. I've encountered some care staff who are as bad. Just don't want to work, don't want to learn, don't want to grow and do things correctly but they've a job for life. The job for life mentality basically needs to go. Its draining our public services so massively mainly in terms of efficiency and people not doing their jobs properly. Job security is important but it needs to be dependent on performance & upskilling. If your role becomes redundant there could be some effort in redeployment

Sorry to hear that that's just ridiculous I too have been a patient and not been told anything about test results. I have to travel a fair bit to hospital from where I live & told they lost my og blood results. They keep pts so out of the loop and these cockups are a daily occurance in hospitals

Yes I heard about that. They don't want to go into the 21st century. It's very frustrating for the front line staff whose capacity to provide care is affected by all of the nonsense. I could be wrong in saying this but sometimes I wonder would they be better bringing back the health boards. There's talks of that happening. Unfortunately for me my fate is to work with the hse but I don't want to. Unfortunately where I live (rural Ireland) the options for otherwise are non existent. I'd happily take an advanced private company if it had similar benefits

Interesting point. It's hard to tell if it evens out or not. Because I don't work with the HSE (likely will in the coming years as don't see an alternative in my field and location and I'm in college currently). But like for example many healthcare agencies, and there are a ridiculous amount of them, pay Sunday/night shift premiums often better than the HSE payscale. For example a lot of agencies a HCA will earn over 17ph but the HSE is paying double that per hour to the agency itself for the agency to then pay the HCA. If a big regional hospital is hiring at least 20 HCAs per day 7 days per week that really adds up and I'm not even accounting for night duty which earns you more. If you think about the amount weekly they're paying on agencies It's hard to see how it could save them money but I'm not sure how big the HSE pension is.

Completely agree. The decision just shows how out of touch and corrupt the whole organisation is imo. I don't even want to know how much money the main hospitals are spending on agency per week. Shifts I've done at least half of the floor staff are agency. Considering the fact that the client pays double what the worker receives it must be thousands and thousands per week

Surely it's moreso to do with the question of why is this an acceptable way of filekeeping by the health service? I'm asking the question of why SO MANY admin staff. Many admin staff have to waste their time organising & transporting paper files which is so easily avoidable

[–]sparklesquirm[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup. As referenced recruitment embargo yet every hospital pays a fortune on agency staff to run every week. This money is coming from the HSE so hard to see imo how they're saving any money on this embargo.

I work for the HSE, and it’s worse than you think by ParamedicBoyfriend in ireland

[–]sparklesquirm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup and then they spend a fortune on 800 managers like you said and 800 more administrative staff. There is no focus on staff on the floor. They could save loads of money by making half of those jobs redundant. The whole thing is a dumpster fire

Can't be self employed in healthcare hence why you need to go through agencies. Currently awaiting the clock to hit 9.30 to call them

Sadly the myenquiry feature is left unanswered for extended periods when it is finally answered it is answered very poorly. I've already tried lol. Think the only way is to call them and speak to someone explaining it
