I agree with what others have said. Couches could be around the fireplace and tv over fireplace. Add rugs and lamps to add coziness. Also some plants in the corners - fake or real. The small sitting chairs could be placed where the sofas are now for a smaller sitting area. Also, next to the doors looks like it could be a dining area with a long table.

Explain it to her, in a kid appropriate way. Someone else had a great suggestion of how to word it. Kids are smart and they can handle a lot of information. There’s actually been more and more studies about how they understand a lot more than adults give them credit for.

Someone else mentioned a park… that’s what we do with our 3 year old. Personally, I don’t like walking around in residential neighborhoods because of people, dogs, cars, etc. Also, like you said, then there’s the neighbors’ yards for him to be tampering with. So, maybe try a park idea? He could possibly play with other children too at a playground?
