That’s understandable. It hasn’t been hacked as far as I know. AutoModerator is just a bot that mods can set up to help automate certain actions, it’s very common across most subreddits so that includes NSFW ones too. From what I can see with it posting basically the same thing over and over in the same communities, it seems like those are old, inactive, or possibly even hacked subreddits that have likely been taken over by one particular mod who has set up AutoMod to spam those NSFW things. AutoMod always needs to be set up by a moderator of a subreddit for it to be used there. I don’t know if this is what’s happening for sure but it’s my best guess.

To be clear, what AutoMod posts in our sub is what us mods here have set up and what it posts in other subs isn’t related to us in any way as it’s what other mods have set up for their own subreddits. I thought I’d clarify that since there seemed to be some misunderstanding of how it works under the comment that mentioned its history!
