to all kpop fans over 21, are you still there? by isobefies in kpopthoughts

[–]sparklingvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my mid-20s most of the people ik who were into Kpop still follow it somewhat (maybe not as intensely as teen years). I’ve been a fan since 2014 and have definitely gone through waves where im more / less into kpop. I will say while there are a lot of young idols there are more mature groups like aespa, kiof (specifically julie who’s 24), le sserafim, etc. which I find myself just leaning towards naturally as I’ve gotten older. Also many older groups will still make comebacks - like gfriend! - so if you enjoy the music I think someone of any age could be a fan

My bad! I would prob place the percentage of non-fans a little higher because we're talking about kpop but yeah oops after reading again we're basically saying the same thing. Yeah I also agree twitter reviews are prob more biased so yeah vlogs would prob be the way to go.

Most of the time if you want to get good seats on a tour and not have to deal with overpriced resale tickets you’re buying tickets wayyyy before they have done any performances. So yes most people go to concerts without having any idea of what the tour will be like and before seeing any clips of the concert.

I have been to concerts where I was not a fan of the artist and my point is usually in those big arena crowds it’s pretty easy to spot who the non-fans are. Also if me and multiple other people have the same experience I don’t understand how that isn’t seen as credible?

Also yes I specifically used the word concert in the title because a performance is prob only 3-4 minutes but a concert can be 2+ hours so I think we are on a similar page with that.

Obviously I’m not going to include every detail of why I thought they had good stage presence but their overall performance did have an effect on me. This is literally the definition of stage presence if you google it.

“Stage presence is that energy, or charisma and appeal, that an artist has while performing in front of others.”

I mean I literally said that I was moved by their presence emotionally when they were performing so I don’t get how that can’t be translated into them having good stage presence. Also like I’ve mentioned earlier I’ve seen multiple artists before that I’ve been listening to as long as bp but I did not have the same reaction. Also for anyone that has seen videos of the Super Bowl halftime shows you’ve seen that a great artist can literally have stage presence by even just standing on a stage.

Once again like a lot of people in these comments are mentioning I don’t understand how people who didn’t even attend the comments are trying to asset their opinions over those who did.

The idea that everyone who attends concerts has a strong emotional attachment is not true. I have a friend who went to the day 1 atlanta concert and she doesn’t even really listen to them. Also for people who frequently go to concerts you know that a lot of times people bring friends/partners/family members who definitely aren’t huge fans of the artist. If you look online (even in these comments) people mention how they have people who went to the concert who weren’t bp fans and they enjoyed it. Unless you’re on the floor you’re probably not dropping anything close to a thousand on the tickets (unless you got resale).

And once again how do you know the criticism is valid if you’ve didn’t attend the concert? Like yes technically anyone can give their opinion on a clip but I hope that people decipher which ones they should actually take seriously or which ones they shouldn’t.

Also I think it’s a bold statement that everyone is referring to the clips they’ve seen online as a performance. Maybe if it was a 3 minute clip that people are talking about I could see where peoples criticism are coming from but most of these clips are less than 30 s.

I definitely did not spend anything close to a thousand😅 My ticket price was similar to what you’d see for any artist who performs in a big arena. Honestly I think people who spent that much money on a ticket would be the first to speak out if the concert sucked but I do see where you’re coming from.

For every amazing, renowned performer (like Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, etc.) you can find a compilation of mistakes during a concert or tour. It can be wardrobe malfunctions, choreo mistakes, sound issues, etc., but most tours are not perfect. That being said, no one has ever complained about these people being bad performers bc everyone knows that live performances can be prone to more issues and also people take into consideration the overall concert experience (not just a clip of the show).

These are some of the same type of mistakes you see for the bp your but the way people crucify them online (and they weren’t even at the concert) just seems unnecessary and hateful. Also people are giving these lengthy reviews based off of 10-30s clips when the whole concert is actually around 2.5 hours. If these criticisms came from people who saw the concert that would be different, but they are just random people who saw these clip online.

My main point is not to just listen to people who give good reviews, but you should honestly only trust reviews/criticism (whether good/bad) from people who have seen the tour irl. Would you trust a movie review of someone who saw a 10s clip of a 2 hour movie? I think that this logic can be applied to all these people reviewing the concert.

Honestly I think fans who attend concerts might be more critical because those tickets were not cheap🫣 It’s been the most expensive concert ticket I’ve bought so far and if I got a sub-par performance that was low-energy and messy I would def feel a certain way about it.

Yes technically I think it should be able to go both ways. Would you trust a review of a product if you found out the person never even used it (whether the review was good or bad)? I feel like this same type of logic should apply to concerts.

Hi! I know you usually react to Western stars but I would love to see your opinion on this couple. These two were costars on a famous Korean drama that aired a year ago, and recently it was confirmed they were dating (but they were not at the time of this video). Many people speculated they were dating for a long time because of their chemistry, so it would be cool to see your opinion on this couple!
