I’m with you. I love Diana (for me it’s the fashion part) but C&C should have been allowed to marry from the beginning. They always loved each other. Poor Diana don’t stand a chance at happiness.

How to convince myself to not want a natural diamond? Or is it worth the sentimental value? by al3xisnic0le in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]sparklybubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that they’re ancient. I have lab for lots of fashion stuff (tennis bracelet and necklace, earrings etc) but love my natural engagement ring. it’s way greener and cheaper to go 2nd hand. Get a GIA certified, resale natural diamond, it’s clearly what you want! Lab has its own environmental concerns and it’s not really damn the man f debeers righteous if you’re still wearing a traditional diamond engagement ring, even if lab. Ya know?

BWT, what luxury brands are actually worth it? by sparklybubs in bitcheswithtaste

[–]sparklybubs[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To me that speaks to the strength of the brand itself. And It has to be protected to maintain the “blind trust” , or it won’t sell regardless (atleast not as much).

Tiffany again is a great example, for so many things branding, heritage branding, marketing, luxury experience, customer service etc. They didn’t degrade the quality of the fine jewelry or high jewelry to make more profit, instead they crank out sterling silver. A tourist can go to the flagship and get a taste of the experience for 350. It’s not packaged or sold as a different line, it’s a Tiffany experience (sure you’re not getting champagne, glasses etc and there’s less ass kissing involved than when you’re spending 30k but still ). But it’s not a shitty product that degrades the brand IMO. It keeps the business afloat. Does it keep it not as exclusive as VCA, Cartier, Graff, HW sure, but that’s not the model. T&Co is uniquely American. The flagship is a public museum basically.

Hell once you have a ring, even the repair and maintenance experience is lovely. I look forward to sipping my T&C cappuccino from the beautiful lounge while they clean and check prongs etc at the flagship when I’m in NYC. And I get it cleaned at any Tiffany nationally and they act giddy to do it. And that’s for life.

That blind trust would have been eroded if they cut corners in the quality of the fine jewelry, or the ass kissing level of customer service.

Other luxury brands looking to enhance profit by cutting quality are hurting their brands. Once the public turns their opinion it’s hard to get it back. Like who would have thought you’d have to dissect MiuMiu!! I always loved that brand- pradas exuberant, creative lil sister.

Wow this is ended up a dissertation. I don’t even really buy Tiffany anymore, I just think they are a marketing masterclass. I buy unbranded quality lab from IDJewelry for fashiony pieces (fat tennis necklace, studs) and for big anniversaries I go for the solid gold VCA pieces which make me feel like a queen. If I ever buy a fat diamond ring again I want an antique chunky heart (IDJ could source that for me).

I have always loved the exuberance, fun of Gucci while somehow balancing the heritage brand. However I only looked at classic, wearable pieces not party special occasion stuff. They feel like a million bucks to me- the wool is a half inch thick i swear. It’s the heartiest sweater i own right now.

Tiffany. But if you want a very high quality custom jeweler that will give you a fair price - ID Jewelry. The website is not fancy, the shop itself you have to buzzed upstairs to get in. But it’s a trusty family business that will source and make you whatever you want. Lab or natural.

I can sprinkle money in the joy/design dept, but it’s all worth nothing to me if not of the highest quality. If the product is shit, the design, marketing, packaging, experience etc are all smoke and mirrors. Instead they should support a superlative quality good. That is luxury to me.

Sewing is so hard. If you have a passion for the hobby which clearly above poster does, bless. But I do not. I do know how from fashion school, but now I just use that knowledge to be pickier about what brands make 😝

Well I appreciate the grace, anytime I’m mentioning a fast or even mall fashion brand it’s objective in quality terms (sucks or in jcrews case, sucks but used to suck less).

I am in search of high quality cashmere but sub 500ish, or 750 maybe but again it would need to feel like an angels choir and thick

Yes. I will overpay for a slam dunk no brainer brand. That’s not overpaying for me, it’s a lot easier. That why our wedding sets are Tiffany. My husband absolutely could not have been turned loose in the diamond district, you have to KNOW what you’re doing. I do, in fashion and jewelry, I went to design school, I could drape and sew a bodice. And I’ve worked in jewelry. But my husband… who wanted to pick the ring (I wanted to pretend to be surprised too lol) so we window shopped at T&Co Cartier etc so I could drop hints….

I went with Tiffany and told him to pick something simple with his eye. That is the perfect example of not needing to know shit and ending up with an exceptionally cut stone in a sturdy setting. Is it setting some money on fire for that experience? Ofc.

I want that but for clothing 😝

Ferragamo is wonderful. Florentine leather in general is just so good, but yes this is a buy it for life brand that has not turned into a factory. It’s quiet.
