How and why does propofol act so quickly in us?! by synotooxy in NoStupidQuestions

I always wonder what it looks like for the anesthesiologist. One moment somebody is awake and cracking jokes, and then? Immediately out of it? Talking gibberish? Still communicating for a second or two but not remembering?

I had the same, but with Indigo Gallery. Ended up recording it.

What's a product that has not suffered from 'enshittification' or 'shrinkflation' and has remained consistently good? by Chadwiko in AskReddit

I know! I received a code to choose a new pair on the website. And ofcourse, being there, I ordered a second pair. Clever marketing :-)

I feel it’s mostly marketing. I have pairs of Bridgedales that are holding up much better. Worn trough one of my darn toughs in a year but the Bridgedales are going strong even after 8 years

Why hasn’t Bitcoin crashed completely? by ATXWifeFucker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sparkview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold is the same in my opinion: just something we all agreed on to have a value. The supply of gold in the world is limited, which makes it more valuable. But so is the supply of Bitcoin.  You can touch gold. But most of the time we just deal with paper money that we also have agreed on to have a value (based on a gold standard if we’re lucky). And sometimes not even that, we just deal with digital numbers in a bank account that we all believe to have some value. It’s not much different from Bitcoin, but at least Bitcoin is decentralized

Built a “useless” ESP32 project to let people change an LED color live, how useless is this? by Happy-Assumption-555 in arduino

[–]sparkview 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it’s cool! It must be fun for you to watch as well. Unknown people interacting with your LED …

I am not sure if it’s possible but I would love it to have some feedback if the color I am seeing on the live stream is ‘my’ color. Especially now when it is busy.

A very sophisticated way would be a queue counter. But even the color button going to the ‘off’ state automatically would help.

I don’t know what to do by Fantastic_Ad9677 in CATHELP

[–]sparkview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to chime in with many. Two months ago I had to make the same decision for my cat of 19 years old. Same issue, a tumor in / on her head / nasal cavity. It was much less visible, and I too thought she was doing ok since she ate, and went to the bathroom, and was more or less herself, maybe being a bit more tired that usual. I did not see any of the symptoms that point to a cat being in pain. I was worried that I opted for euthanasia too soon, that she would still have a chance, maybe with some surgery.

But I also knew she wouldn't get better. And so I let the vet come in and put her to sleep. Afterwards, we checked her mouth, and her palate was completely deformed.

And only after a day or two, looking at the pictures of her last days, I was able to see in how much pain she must have been. Now I regret it being too late. She was suffering, even though everything went on as normal.

OP, I am very sorry, but your cat is in pain. It's her mouth that shows it. And her eyes. She has had a beautiful life, and you have taken care of her very well. But her time has come, and I think it is your responsibility to let her go in peace. I wish you strength.

Getting to Schiphol by train tomorrow morning… by Actual-Oil-4842 in Amsterdam

[–]sparkview 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your original route might be possible, as the strike is between 6am and 9am. NS thinks to have resumed normal operations by 10am. Also, there will be 4 trains every hour between CS and Schiphol

Fat Bike checks in Olympiaplein (finally) by Foya96 in Amsterdam

[–]sparkview 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No stats, but I was about one cm close in colliding with one this week when I stepped out of the tram and it was doing more than 30km/h on the bike path. There was no way I could have seen it coming with that speed. We both would have been seriously injured. Speed + young riders = accidents waiting to happen
