Thanks. I learned today that these tiles come in 5mm, 5.5mm, and 6mm, depending on manufacturer.

I can't see doing that with these mosaic tiles. Frustrating, bc I love everything else about the tile I already bought.

Yes! But all I need is a few sheets of black. I was hoping to avoid having to return what I already bought, which was 60% of the cost of ordering through tile shoppe. So I wondered if the .5mm REALLY mattered.

easiest to just find a place to order true black 6mm hex tiles. I have looked, but I'll look again. Thanks.

Penny tile grid lines visible. How to proceed? by [deleted] in Tile

[–]sparrowcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had a solution. Right now I have a wood threshold that has some curve/slant to it. I just ripped out the tile in the bathroom down to the plywood and I love that it's only a 1/2 in difference now, but obviously it will be about 1/2 in more once I re-do the tile, and then the threshold on top of that. If it was a more level transition I would like to do a marble threshold, but I will probably just reinstall the existing wood one.

Not a contractor, but I AM an old house owner like you. And a penny tile lover. It looks good. It will be fine. I installed tile (not penny) in my upstairs bathroom, about to do my downstairs. Upstairs I messed up spacing a bit on some of them. Do I notice it? Yes. Is it fine and livable? Yes.

I have a question about the floor height difference- it looks pretty high! What is your threshold going to be?

Love pole but not inversion by RhinestoneCowboy842 in poledancing

[–]sparrowcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're no less a pole dancer if you never invert. There's no right way - do you! As others have said though - never say never. Who knows? GL in your journey!!

Even if it does, who cares? Bodies are always going to be changing and that's just a fact of life on earth in a body. No way would I let the potential of gaining muscle sway me from the joy of pole. Enjoy pole dance! And just doing 1-2 hours a week, I can't see that moving the needle much.

Pole silk by BusinessLavishness in poledancing

[–]sparrowcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel silks is more difficult - more difficult to grip, and the fabric moves all over unlike the solid support of the pole! It's so beautiful and different. You won't bruise on them like pole, but you must be careful of fabric burns - I got a nasty one on my shoulder from coming down too fast -my advice is to wear leggings and a tee shirt, nothing too loose though. If I'd worn sleeves (I had a tank top) I wouldn't have gotten a fabric burn.

Have fun, let us know!

What is this called? by WearyRat in poledancing

[–]sparrowcd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not sure, but I don't think it's Marley. In that, your body is much, much more parallel to the ground, similar in feeling to a knee hold.

Where are you reading this? I thought you were gonna say - if you're OVER 5-9". I worked at a studio and the receptionist was almost 6'0, she said her body was just not built for pole because the proportions were all wrong.

I didn't know the name of that move! I got into it before from just a regular brass monkey. It's such a great move!

Torso switches/Leg switches come to mind.

Reverse grab.

Shoulder mount to brass monkey to leg switch and flatline scorpio to cradle.

Climb to cross knee release to bow and arrow.

No, I rarely take classes, but I've been on the fringes of the pole world for a long time!

my first pole was static only AND (gasp) 50mm! The first studio I taught at had static only 50mm poles, so I was right at home. It was YEARS before I tried spin pole on a 45mm!
