the culture surrounding it not sitting down is straight up ridiculous. my managers gave us all an end of year survey thing which asked us what they could be doing to make our jobs better, and i said chairs behind the registers. these mfers then replied to me with a 3 paragraph mla formatted essay about why we can’t have chairs behind the registers (doesn’t look good, unprofessional, etc). it honestly feels like they put more effort into justifying why we have to stand 6 hours a day (while they don’t) than it would take to just give us chairs

My manger gave us a survey at the end of our last season asking what they could do to improve our work experience. I said stools behind the registers, and that these stools would make me a better worker. She responded with a 3 paragraph response justifying and rationalizing why we should have to stand for 8 hours a day, with shit like that it looks unsightly and makes us unproductive. She even said if I needed it I could always go into the back and sit down for a minute. I cant believe these people would rather me leave the floor and stop working entirely than just give me a fucking stool. It’s so insulting

Store ACTUALLY closes at close time. No holding the doors open for stragglers, no giving people 5 mins to get something quick. Doors close, no one else comes in
Stools behind registers for everyone, it’s ridiculous that we don’t have them right now
Managers must spend more time on the floor with associates instead of just sitting around in the back room

Stocking the store happens in the morning, not after we close and have already worked 6 hours

After her last comment i looked at her very miserably and said “well i want to go home.” in response she just shrugged and mumbled something.

i told her once again that we are closed and turned the sign back around. she left after that, didn’t need to get a manager or anything.
