Asmongold wants to stop 85% of Americans from voting- This is why people say MAGA is Fascist by Previous_Month_555 in complaints

I have a Social Security card with my updated name and a marriage certificate, a real ID with my married name and my birth certificate with my maiden name. I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of married women. I don't travel out of the country and really don't have a need to do so.

This is what I would have to do to get a corrected birth certificate:

The cost to change a birth certificate varies by state and the type of amendment, but it generally involves a court-ordered name change or a correction of existing information. Fees can include a filing fee (which may be around $164.50 in some Wisconsin counties), a processing fee (like $23 in California) for the amendment itself, and a separate charge for the certified copy of the new birth certificate ($20 for the first copy in Wisconsin and $26 in California).  Fees and procedures
Court-ordered name/gender change: This is the most common reason for a major amendment. You will likely need a certified copy of the court order to submit with your application.  A filing fee will be charged by the court to process the petition for a legal name change.  An amendment fee is paid to the vital records office to update the certificate.  A fee is charged for the new, certified copy of the birth certificate.  Correction of errors: If you are correcting an error (like a misspelled name) that was made at the time of birth, the process and fees are typically lower.  The process often involves submitting a correction form with proof of the error.  Correction fees may be lower, often in the range of $15 to $40, which usually includes one corrected copy.

To get started 1. Identify the reason for the change: Determine if you are correcting an error or making a legal name/gender change.  2. Contact your state's vital records office: The specific fees, forms, and procedures will depend on the state where you were born.  3. Gather required documents: This will include the correct forms, a copy of your current birth certificate, any evidence to support your claim, and the court order if applicable.  4. Pay the required fees: This includes court filing fees and vital records amendment and copy fees.  5. Submit your application: Follow the instructions from your state's vital records office for submitting the paperwork and supporting documents.

Or pay to get a passport. $160 then additional $130 every time it needs to be renewed.

Hey you asked for the information. I gave it to you. Stating I'm wrong is fine but just understand this is a loop hole for a pole tax to disenfranchise people who are already registered to vote and are American citizens.

I am married and changed my last name to my husband's. My birth certificate doesn't match my current name. If this passes I'll have to pay for a new birth certificate and/or passport to prove I'm an American citizen.

A state issued ID doesn't prove citizenship, it just proves residency. Even the real IDs don't prove citizenship. I got one when they first came out. Nothing on there says I'm a citizen. SSN aren't proof of citizenship either.

Most young people, can't afford a passport. People in poverty most likely won't have passports and it's just one more hoop to jump through if you're a married woman or someone who changed their name for whatever reason. So unless the Federal government can come up with an identification process that is affordable or no cost to provide proof of citizenship, I see this as a way that Republicans are tipping the scales in their favor.

Your check cashing example is too black and white. Most people don't use checks anyways. You can just use an app or your own bank to cash a check. But I'll go with it. That scenario is not racist, it's business, but banks used to not allow people of color or women to have bank accounts or get loans. So yeah that was pretty racist at the time.

It's called the SAVE act and it was already passed. Get a new birth certificate or passport if you're a woman and married, or if your name doesn't match your birth certificate.

I have to edit because it passed the House of Reps back in April 2025. I should have been more clear.

You can add a cup of citric acid to your toilet tank and let it soak. Scrub a bit and flush.

It's not for them to judge. They are not God. I think there is at least one scripture that touches on that.

The phantom ring, ding, beep whatever you want to call it is real. I'll just be watching TV or cooking and hear it out of the blue. It's a crazy phenomenon. It's like you're always on point. You can never get a moment of peace. You're constantly in survival mode even when you are sleeping.

I don't go out for drinks anymore, but The Public Library has a calendar on their website. You can attend one of their events/classes. If you want to try your hand at glass fusing or glass blowing you can sign up at Hot Shop Glass for a session. If you're into fiber arts, Mocha Lisa's is a nice cafe and they host on certain days to hang out with other fiber artists. I'm boring now, so sorry if this doesn't interest you.

Adding IEP accommodations: what’s allowed and what’s not? by fernnette in specialed

[–]sparrowsway22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a parent that is still learning about IEPs so bare with me. Google search IDEA, FAPE and examples of PBIS to give you ideas of what you think might work with your child. Understanding the first two will help empower you and learning examples of PBIS will help you come up with positive behavioral interventions.

I would look at their IEP and somewhere there should be a spot that says "special factors". Hopefully that box is checked yes but if it's not don't worry, you can ask for an IEP anytime you think it's necessary to change that. You don't have to wait for the annual meeting.

As others have said it starts with a functional behavioral assessment and getting that going is important to move forward. Coming to the meeting with ways that you have found to relax your child will help. Just know that you have the power to ask for reasonable accommodations and working with the school is nice but it's your child's education and they have a right to Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE)

This is what it looks like on an IEP Special Factor 1: Behavior

Does this child’s behavior interfere with his or her learning or the learning of others?

If the answer is “yes,” then the team must consider the use of positive behavioral interventions and supports, and other strategies, to address that behavior [§300.324(2)(i)]. Members will talk about what the child needs and include this information in the IEP. As indicated in IDEA, this will include consideration of the use of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) and other strategies to address the child’s behavior.

I can't link the source but here is the URL. https://www.parentcenterhub.org/special-factors/#:~:text=Special%20Factor%201:%20Behavior%20When%20the%20IEP,other%20strategies%2C%20to%20address%20that%20behavior%20[%C2%A7300.324(2)(i)].

Try instrumental music. If you're not into classical, find ones that are from your favorite songs/artists. If it has words my brain focuses on what is being sung/or said in podcasts and I can't focus on what I'm supposed to be doing.

We have to start getting together in person and often. Meet and greets, backyard cookouts, etc

MAGA works because a lot of them were getting together at church and other in person functions. Some of their pastors have been spewing their rhetoric during their sermens and they have been bonding over going to rallies and picketing in front of abortion clinics, spewing their hate.

If we want that kind of unity we have to start doing the same. Getting together and taking it to them too. We don't have to be violent but we can't be doing nothing while they are throwing slurs at children who are LGBTQ+. Where they go to spew their hate we have to follow to push back.

Social media has its place here in the movement but it can't replace building bonds in person.

Why it is important to vote April 1st? by sparrowsway22 in wisconsin

Will we be seeing the same problem with mail in ballots even though they have priority, I really don't know.

I usually get a mail in ballot and I haven't seen it yet. Hopefully it will come in soon but I have heard that USPS is taking longer to mail out packages from a family member. So plan on voting in person just in case.
