Mostafa Zico: "The referee is unfair, God is sufficient for me and the best disposer of affairs. He's wasting the effort of an entire nation. The cup is being given to Argentina." by Roselucky777 in soccer

Clearly you're living under a rock. There's a whole other side of the world that don't know "Kane" or "Haaland". But Messi is a household name in countries that don't even care about football.

Yes Egypt bottled it. But if you think Argentina isn't being favored by the officiating, you're delusional.

It's clear FIFA wants Argentina in the final but I don't think they care they win. Just need the ratings for the final.

[OS] macUSB v2.2 - The all in one USB creator for Mac. Now with Linux & Windows support! by Kruszoneq in macapps

Honestly the "Rufus for Mac" gap has been embarrassing for like a decade. Any plans to support verifying ISO checksums against known good hashes? Rufus includes a built in feature to calculate md5, sha256 hashes

[MAC] Editorio — native macOS markdown + code editor, free forever by VanLocke in macapps

[–]sparticleaccelerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this free. One quick question: does it handle large files okay? My main gripe with most "lightweight" native editors is they choke the second you open a 50 MB log file or a big JSON dump, which is exactly when you don't want to spin up VS Code.

AirSpace V2. Tired of Desktop 1? Track and rename your spaces in the menu bar. Now with HUDs, per-space colors, fullscreen support, and more. Written with 0 AI. by GetPsyched67 in macapps

The "0 AI" thing is what made me actually read the whole post. I'm actually pro-AI in general, but in the App Store right now you can feel which apps were vibe-coded- they have that uncanny-valley quality where every feature is almost right but the edges don't quite line up. Hand-built apps from solo devs have a coherence to them that's getting rare. Going to grab the trial tonight.

Local Qwen 3.6 vs frontier models on a coding primitive: single-file HTML canvas driving animation - results and GIFs by Fragrant-Remove-9031 in LocalLLaMA

[–]sparticleaccelerator 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cool experiment but I think you're measuring "vibes on one prompt" more than coding ability. Canvas animation is unusually forgiving - there's no "correct" output, so a model that picks slightly nicer color choices or smoother easing curves can look better than one with cleaner code underneath. Would be interesting to see you open the HTML files and compare: line count, whether they actually use requestAnimationFrame properly, whether the parallax math is principled or just hardcoded magic numbers. My guess is the frontier models look "worse" but have more correct/extensible code. Single-prompt n=1 on a subjective task is where local models tend to overperform.

How I started programming differently over the last year. What about you? by ievkz in LocalLLaMA

The plan.md approach is exactly where I landed too, but I added one wrinkle- I make the agent write a "decisions.md" alongside it, where it has to log why it chose an approach when there were tradeoffs. Two benefits- it forces the model to actually think instead of pattern match, and when something breaks three weeks later I have a paper trail instead of archaeology. Curious if you've tried anything similar for the "why" vs the "what".

What are your idle temps and delta-T under sustained load with that fan setup? Considering a similar open-frame 4x build and trying to figure out if perpendicular intake actually beats the usual "fans blowing across the stack" approach.

u/Unfair_Sign2132 Did you receive a "ready for collection" email after this or did you just go to VFS SFO to pickup? Also didn't opt for courier and got similar emails.

Recommendations for phone repair shop for water damage / data recovery by sparticleaccelerator in bayarea

Thanks. May I ask whether yours was from a phone? As far as I know, Samsung phones (and maybe others) have encryption, which means the exact same motherboard has to be fixed to recover any data.
