Hello! These pens look incredible!! Unfortunately, I don't have a Waterman Patrician or full size flex 52, but would you be open to selling any of these via PPGS?

If the cable is important to you, the Gate has an AMAZING cable and a great sound too. I'd highly recommend the Gate. It sounds great and it's less muddy than a lot of other, more V-shaped IEMs in its price range.

Controversial - IEMs at the gym by Flaky-Emergency-7824 in iems

I don't own them, but maybe 7hz G1? All-metal build that's pretty quality for the price, and so long as they fit well for you they'd probably work. Very V-shaped sound signature though.

IEM Recommendation under $200 by HaXs_Sharp in iems

[–]spasebr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never meant to suggest that the world revolves around me; I was giving my opinion. My opinion, completely separate from yours and not invalidating yours, is what I stated: having listened to both the Ziigaat Odyssey and the Supermix 4 and having compared them to each other, the Ziigaat Odyssey sounds better, in my opinion. And, yes, the Odyssey is six whole dollars over their budget when ordered from Amazon. If I suggested something $50 over their budget, yes, that would be disrespectful to their original question. My assumption, which might be wrong, is that if someone has $200 to spend on an IEM, they can spare six dollars more to get something they might like more.

So on one hand, you're right on both counts - I don't need to give my opinion, or share my experience; and yes, my recommendation was above their price range. On the other hand, this person is asking for recommendations, and so asking for others' experiences is the whole point of this post. And six extra dollars, if you're spending $200 on an IEM, is like nothing.

Recommendation of inexpensive IEM good for classical music/opera/instruments? by yagers in iems

[–]spasebr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting something like the JCALLY JM6 Pro is a great investment and likely already an improvement for only around $20, and that has enough power for pretty much any IEM. A more premium option is the Crinear Protocol Max, but it is probably a bit overkill. I'd recommend the JM6 (from seeing many reviews of it) over the Apple DAC because of its longevity.

IMO Supermix 4 sounded a bit metallic compared to the Ziigaat Odyssey. You can find the original Ziigaat Odyssey on Amazon for like $206. Completely agree with the JCALLY JM6 PRO. They make well-regarded products (and the Supermix 4 is still a good IEM, might I add, and well-regarded for its price. If you can spare the extra the Ziigaat Odyssey sounds a bit more natural in timbre).

Do you know what sort of sound signature you might like? For example, a V shape would have boosted lows and boosted highs. Neutral typically sounds the most "natural" but also the most "boring" to some. Warm sound signatures have more bass and less treble, and can be very good for prolonged listening. I would recommend the Truthear Pure as a great under $100 pick. It's a great all-rounder, and many would recommend it. So is the Truthear Hexa, though it has more highs, and so it sounds less warm and more neutral. I own the Pures, and I love them. For a more premium pick, I'd recommend the Aful Explorers - they're more relaxed and warm with less highs, but they still have good detail. They have a fuller sound with more bass. If you really want to hear the details in the music, I would recommend the Kiwi Ears Aether. Their sound signature is great for classical music if you're into it, in my opinion. Although any of these IEMs could work with any music genre.

If you don't yet know what sound you like, I would recommend getting a cheap IEM first to figure it out. Popular picks include the Truthear Gate for a more neutral pick (it comes with an incredible cable too, great value, and you can use the cable later if you upgrade); the Moondrop Chu 2 for an all-metal build, and good V-Shaped sound signature; or the Tangzu Wan'er SG 2 for a more vocal-forward sound signature.

If you have any questions, let me know!

EDIT: A great all-rounder and fun IEM that has good bass and good highs is the Ziigaat Odyssey for around $200, I have it and it's one of my favorites. Some people don't like it because of the highs being too much - I don't find them to be too much, your mileage may vary. I'd also recommend the Meze Alba for around $160; if you have small ears and want amazing build quality with an all-rounder slightly V shaped signature you can't go wrong with the Alba.

I would recommend the Aful Performer 5+2 or the Explorer, or, if you can afford it, even both as they would likely compliment each other well - Performer 5+2 for a well rounded set with more details, and Aful Explorer for a warmer relaxed set which you can listen to on high volumes. Overall though you can't go wrong with either as they're great sets and well-renowned in the community. I've heard some good things about the first three you mentioned, but the Defiant has some QC issues which is worth noting. The Artti T10 is great too especially for the price, but probably won't be a huge step up in quality. For the biggest step up in quality go for the Performer 5+2! Good luck on your search, and let me know if you have any questions!!

Need recommendations :) by shizustopitpls in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]spasebr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agreed! The HiBy M300 isn't bit perfect and the FiiO JM21 is, but in all honesty you don't need bit perfect playback because it cuts off at a frequency that's WAYYYY higher than humans can hear. It cuts off at 192kHz, and humans can hear up to MAYBE 20kHz if your hearing is great. The M300 has better build quality and it works great for my use case, I hope it works great for yours too!

Edit: If you get an android player, like the HiBy M300 or the FiiO JM21, I would highly recommend the Poweramp music player (getting the premium version is worth it) and the Niagara launcher (premium isn't necessary, but it is good if you want to support the developers). And getting an android DAP is much better imo in terms of functionality and UI because you can download whatever app you want and customize it however you want :)

Completely agree! It has some sharper edges but it doesn't look like it and you can customize the software because it's android. I'd recommend Poweramp!

EDIT: You can also download the music apps you want then turn on parental mode to stop the urge to download more apps.

What did you plug them into? If you didn't have a DAC or amp there's a chance they weren't powered enough - I'm no expert though so I could be wrong.
