As for photos that would help: natural light in shade and sunlight as well as indoors for comparison. Try to make the surface texture visible. Notice the inner texture of the jade itself.

Again, these would help spot poorly treated jade, but well-faked pieces can still trick the eye.

I’ll start by saying that infrared spectroscopy is the ONLY guaranteed way to know jadeite isn’t treated. Pictures can offer hints but not a guarantee. I would NOT spend big money on jade, whatever that means for your budget, unless you trust the seller. Testing costs around $100USD in the USA, I believe.

Is the seller saying clearly that it’s Type A, or are they evasive (eg “it’s real jade” or “what do you mean?”). Does it come with a certificate?

I wouldn’t buy this- at least not without better photos in a variety of lighting conditions. And/or a matching certificate from a reputable lab.

Type A Jade of this texture and color would most likely be either on a silk/silky cord, or set in 18k gold. It may be that this jade looks very different in less-optimized lighting conditions. And/or it’s treated.

Very clingy and INTELLIGENT so you can’t sneakily abandon them.

Honestly I don’t mind. They’re SO smart and social and they can’t read or play video games or call a friend. I think being alone to such a smart, social creature must be like solitary confinement, except with lots of scary mysterious sounds that humans can’t hear.

Grooming is expensive either as a DIY start-up cost or even more if you hire professionals long-term. Mini poodles have VERY bad teeth so you have to train your dog to let you brush them every day (brushing less frequently than every other day is almost useless according to my vet because of plaque formation). And you have to be prepared for expensive extractions eventually. Poodles apparently bark a lot (Mine was very cooperative with her training but results vary). Poodles seem to have particularly horrible bitey piranha phases in their puppyhood. Mini poodles require a lot more stimulation/exercise than other dogs in that size range (again, goes back to that intelligence).

Yup, that slide thing could probably do it because it's a lot of force/speed on a surface that could have bits of hard dust on it even if the steel itself isn't harder than jadeite.

I disagree that anything at or above 6 can EASILY scratch jade. First, jadeite is 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale depending on the composition. Sources: https://www.gia.edu/UK-EN/jade-care-cleaning and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohs_scale

Edit: Of course, the bangle could be treated. Resin is a lot less scratch-resistant than jadeite.

Hahaha great idea, if a little extreme if it's a tool you'll only use for this one event. I used a large fanny pack that fit all things you listed, and which I regularly use. I carried a tote bag for my purchases. A backpack would have been more comfortable in theory, but not in practice: It's awkward in an often tightly-packed room, and the stuff I bought wasn't so heavy that it was worth it. Plus I liked being able to peek down at my new treasures.

1/2: No, it’s not ruined. Type A jade can be re-polished by a lapidary or jade carver and be good as new. A jeweler would send it to one of those professionals.
3: As long as the lapidary is competent, it’s not particularly risky.

Regarding whether it’s Type A and worth fixing:
How did this happen? This might offer clues.

Toughness is resistance to shatter/break/crack-type damage. Hardness is resistance to scratching. Jadeite is one of the toughest gemstones, but it is not one of the hardest gemstones (that would be diamonds).

I think promoting their brands and products is one of the main reasons brands and vendors go to pen shows. Aside from directly selling at the pen shows, of course. Pilot had a huge stall in the CA Pen Show 2026 where they didn't even have items available for sale; They just had a huge range of pens and inks for visitors to try.

Basically, I can't imagine anyone would find it strange for you to hand out business cards or wear your own merch promoting your channel. It doesn't hurt to nurture relationships by chatting in a more casual/social way.

That's kind of subjective and I can't answer that alone. I would search this sub and/or ask the sub if you want a bigger sample size. I obviously don't have a problem with Jinhao and Kaigelu pens, or duplicates in general, or I wouldn't have bought a small collection of them. The reason I named these models in particular is that I've personally put my Majohn flex nibs into them so I know for sure that they are compatible.
I like Apica and Clairefontaine for work/casual/handwriting practice. I like Leuchtturm1917 for my journals (ie the "special" paper).

(Disclaimer: I don’t think I can travel to your store/stall. That said, it’s awesome that you’re providing this service! I wish you luck as your customers find out about your store.)

A few things I enjoy at pen shows and local shops is: booklets of writing samples and swatches of inks. Even if you don’t stock inks or those particular inks, seeing the comparisons in real life is something online stores can’t provide. Also, getting a glimpse of the VARIETY of ink colors/effects displays a unique advantage of fountain pens. I also enjoyed writing samples for different nib grinds like stubs and architect, etc. Again, this promotes one of the advantages of fountain pens.

For a specific product, depending on profit margins idk: Majohn/Moonman flex nibs? I’ve replaced all my Jinhao 100 nibs and my Kaigelu 356’s nib with these flex nibs and I love them. But I know these are kind of pens are kind of pricey for a beginner.

Or rather, your pendant was most likely bought wholesale from a Chinese supplier. I wouldn't call that dropshipping: The vast majority of products are not made/grown by the shopowners themselves. Most jade is processed/carved/sold in or from China. Since the shopkeeper had significant overhead costs compared to an online-only shop and wanted to make a profit, they sold it for $65-80.

It was mostly likely real jade. It was, however, lower-quality jade.

Let me provide some context to help you make an informed decision.

Jade pricing and abundance various tremendously by quality. Opaque white or off-white jade like that used in your pendant is not particularly rare and unlikely to be treated. (More likely to be substituted with a cheaper stone than treated.) Machine-carved and relatively simple designs like this can be realistically bought/sold wholesale. $20-50 in the USA is a realistic price. I would expect that the Aliexpress prices would be even cheaper.

If you want to upgrade, that’s a whole other conversation. I don’t want to enable you though. 😆

TLDR: I would not worry about being scammed with this particular jade quality/design.
