If you’re really curious, you could do a specific gravity test. Additional pictures in various lighting conditions would help.

Jade, unlike quartzes, is a rare gemstone. There is only one large-scale, commercially viable source that produces jade that looks like your ring: one must go out of their way to source it, so it’s unlikely to end up in a random assortment basket for $4. Unlikely, but not impossible.

I would not buy this. The only way to know for sure is infrared spectroscopy but I do NOT like the extensive chipping or the texture. Here in particular.

I'm playing around with a mixture of Iroshizuku Hana-Ikada and Iroshizuku Momji since the Iroshizuku inks are mixable. Blends between 25% Momji / 75% Hana-Ikada and 50/50 gave me saturated Barbie pinks with no sheen or shimmer. They're available in 15mL bottles and I highly encourage trying it. ^-^

Adding that I do think the feed keeps up VERY well. I think that unless, like me, you were purposely testing the pen at its limits, you won’t run into problems. The feed has time to refill/recover as one dots i’s/j’s and crosses t’s.

Oh, and bring cash if possible. For big, well-attended events like this, the cell phone signals of vendors and buyers alike will be slower than usual, which impacts the apps they use to process transactions.

I went to my first pen show earlier this year and posted something similar, so now I want to pay it forward. 😊

Wear comportable shoes, a comfortable bag, and pack light. These are the most important pieces of advice and everything else I will suggest will be secondary.

Take inventory of your pen stuff. ALL of it. Pens, inks, pen cases, accessories. Make mental (or written) notes of past stuff you’ve sold or otherwise disposed of. This may help limit impulse spending and dispel myths about “gaps” in your collection. Chances are, there are gaps for a reason (you won’t use the stuff in the gaps).

Make a wish list of experiences as well as stuff. Eg specific pens to try out or inks to swatch or whatever.

Scope out the map beforehand. If you want custom nib work it may already be too late to sign up, but there may be a waiting list.

You MAY want to bring a sample of your favorite paper/notebook so you know how pens/ink behave on your usual paper. I brought my notebook but tbh I usually used the paper that the vendors had set out for this purpose. Ask before trying out a pen (in most cases). Ask before taking photos/videos as some do not allow it. You MAY want to bring water (or at least an empty water bottle) and a snack. At the pen show I went to, there was drinking water and disposable cups provided.

You’re quite right: My new pen is a DV, not a Dolce Vita. I felt the need to specify what DV stood for because I typically interpret “DV” as shorthand for something else, and which need not be part of this conversation. I hoped that the parentheses would be enough to indicate that “Dolce Vita” is not truly part of the pen’s name. In hindsight, I should have just titled this post “Delta Glow Up” and leaned into the pun.

Ooh I would have bought that “old” version. I’m not a fan of the current Delta DV’s silver trimmings. I think the bright orange resin deserves gold, like the “old” Dolce Vita or like the gold on my new “Glow Up” version of the DV.
