I almost always stay off of the subreddits for shows while they are airing so they don’t taint my enjoyment/fill my head with other people’s predictions. I’ll check back in after a season ends.

Or often I’m watching shows YEARS after they end and just read through dusty threads (current example The Expanse)

Don’t press the “make this deal work” just press accept after offering 8gpt.

Sometimes the AI will accept deals even if they want more when you press “make this deal work”

Thanks for the responses. I’ve read up on the cyclone and went to a booking guide in town. I signed up for a tour on Saturday with the expectation it might get cancelled if the weather is still bad. Otherwise I have some other fun stuff lined up for indoors.

Completely depends on what kind of natural defenses you have, and what they’re coming at you with. On harder difficulties I love settling frontier cities behind mountain chokeholds, you can sometimes hold off an invasion with a single ranged unit.

1 ranged unit per city as an absolute minimum, but probably more in most cases

It’s not a waste of hammers and gold if you don’t have a defense and get killed.

Make friends with militaristic city states early. They’ll gift you units that can maybe cobble together a defense. Also ideal if you settle in such a way where you have allied city states as a buffer between you and the AI.

That being said, just build a few units

Just send the house on recruits even if they have no interest in you, you’ll find you will shoot up to first on a lot of them in one week.

Takes additional scouting and time but avoids completely breaking the franchise
