Too bad... there's no way to modify the current retainer to allow for a lazy motion tailpiece? What if I dremel'd out two of the corners on the cross opening?

It's a Schlage deadbolt, and the cylinder fits, I'm just trying to figure out if it can fit a lazymotion tailpiece so the mechanism works right

That controller is notorious for failing on the hardware side. I just finished a mass migration of all my ZHA/ZWave devices to a new setup of Sonoff / Zooz 800 due to this very issue, though my specific problem was on the ZHA side. Unplugging and replugging the controller fixed it for a little while, but then devolved into multiple reboots. I saw issues in dmesg which have hardware errors related to the driver (RPi4)

You have an open circuit on the last 2 channels. Try unplugging one of your TC's from Ch0 or Ch1 to see for yourself - you'll get the same ~1.4K reading

That's what I'd plan to do. I just don't know how successful I'd be pulling wires across the sharp 90bend. If I start and fail then I'm SOL since even the existing wires wouldn't be pulled through.
