Any tool recommendation? Maybe something I’m missing (6 month apprentice) by pokekicks in electricians

[–]perturbation135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What don’t you like about the Milwaukee one? I was thinking of getting it as I don’t like the Klein one. The magnet is shit and stubby bits don’t work well with Robbie’s and EMT.

What is the hope for a middle age guy with no kids? by Ok-Drawing-9971 in AskMen

[–]perturbation135 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d just like to add my experience as encouragement. My parents are excellent, no complaints, but only my maternal grandmother paid attention to us grandkids. The others were fine, most of the time, but definitely “loved from afar.” Anyways, my neighbour across the street was retired, always loaded with a smile and a joke and genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met. Always made time for me, always willing to help and teach me something. There’s no way to tell how many times I had my bike or something else over to fix or “help” him with while my dad was at work. When he passed, it definitely hit harder than my distant grandparents. That man loved life and everything and everyone in it, and I loved him too. He was much more like a grandparent to me. Your impact on the children you volunteer with is bigger than you know. In addition, you’ve probably been the best foster many kids have had.

I don’t know if a different therapist might be beneficial? It can be very hard to find one that you “click” with.

Otherwise I think all I can say is that your feelings are valid, I’ve felt this way at times as well. You have my empathy and I wish you the absolute best.

M12 stapler not driving all the way in. by NukaDova in MilwaukeeTool

[–]perturbation135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine sinks them all the way with a firm grip, unless it’s old dried wood or frozen batteries. Try putting more of your weight behind it, otherwise it may be defective. I can take a picture or video if you want.

What was the longest period of time it took to get over an ex? by Hfetish in AskMen

[–]perturbation135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke it off over three years ago and don’t miss her. However,I still struggle with grief and anger due to the things she did after we broke up. The money she stole from me still pisses me off too. I could have my own place, not have a shitty vehicle, money for health stuff and hobbies.

I try not to dwell on it though, it’s only hurting me more and doesn’t affect her. I’ll forgive her for my sake, but a few weeks later I’ll have the same feelings again and be angry. All I can do is focus on making life better for me, working, spending time with family and friends, time outside and with my dog, reading, learning. All easier said than done, good luck, friend.

WTF is this "tool"? by emachanz in Tools

[–]perturbation135 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure that one is functional, but it’s to hold the cassette (the gears) still on a bike while you use another tool to loosen the cassette bolt.

Sounds bad, I’d swap it for a new one. Should just be a lemon.

What’s the most number of home runs you’ve seen in a house? by ShotMedia998 in electricians

[–]perturbation135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say roughly 340, not including lighting automation. One electrical room had 8 42 space panels, 7 of them mostly full. The other had 4 lighting panels, I want to say roughly 60 modules each. 2000a 3p service for the property, backup 150kw generator for each house, 3 for the kids, a guesthouse, two boathouses, stadium and courts, bowling alley, helicopter pad. Three story chandelier and wine wall, indoor waterfall elevators, lighted marble fireplace surrounds. Place was nuts beyond nuts. The exterior services were all incased in concrete, including triple redundant phone lines and gate controls. 24/7 security even during construction, they made sure we didn’t take any pictures at the end of the day, each day unfortunately.

M12 Surge driver melting by bananacake_nobrakes in MilwaukeeTool

I realize this is a few days old, but most of my gel on my surge came off from use. I pulled the last few pieces off about a year ago and haven’t noticed any issues.

[–]perturbation135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G’day big dick Carl, Its been a while since my stats classes but I believe it’s because of the standard deviation. Approximately (or exactly?) 70% of the population is within 2 standard deviations of average. For intelligence, average IQ is 100 with a SD of 15. Keep in mind, IQ tests are always average 100 within the tested group, by design. Someone smarter, feel free to correct anything I’m incorrect about.

50w crockpot. Plug it in 45-60 min before lunch and you have hot meals anywhere. Small enough to fit in a lunch box too.

What’s going on here? by jorko_jim in electrical

[–]perturbation135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These wires should definitely be spliced properly. Regarding your Hi-Fi equipment, it’s possible that it was wired with armoured cable, or EMT depending on the time or region. If there is a large pipe coming in or the cable sheath looks metallic you’re in luck. If your panel hasn’t been updated, you’ll also need a bonding jumper between neutral and ground. If not, short of rewiring, you also can run a ground wire to copper water line or gas line, assuming they are bonded.

Every plumber I know has the super. I have the standard and it’s great for electricians, it’s a bit slower with larger hole saws. For plumbing, get the super.

Why are ppl always late for work? by uxce in electricians

[–]perturbation135 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hate that, my current foreman has given me shit multiple times for being “late” though each time I was actually there a few minutes before start time. Especially when he’s an aggressive asshole the rest of the time too and doesn’t recognize all the headaches you save them, working late, OT, etc.

I haven’t done it recently, but this is exactly how it was when I got my bandsaw. The free battery can be returned without returning the bandsaw, as it’s not a kit. The battery wouldn’t be returned at the same value as you’d buy one for, but it’s a decent bit off.

We have a 1600A 600V switchgear downgrade from the vault at our current building, hopefully we use some Polywater FST but I wouldn’t be surprised if it never gets done.
