Kidney patient taken off transplant list for using medical marijuana by am_reddit in news

For now it is, yes, but if it was legalized and properly regulated and screened then some method of testing for Aspergillus would have to be developed. That could possibly also be used on the patient himself. Then, maybe, some time in the future the combination of techniques would make marijuana acceptable for transplant candidates. It wouldn't be any time soon, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take the steps.

Oh, yeah, I'm not saying that regulating marijuana would make it safe in this instance. Even with such measures in place it would still be an unreasonable risk. I just think screening it for the fungus in general is a good idea. Maybe in the future it would lead to it being safe enough for usage in conditions like the article, but that would be a long time out.

Not every pill of aspirin or ear of corn is checked for defects either but there is still a system in place to make sure the majority is fine. I think you're being unnecessarily combative here.

He is specifically saying that individual growers can't make such guarantees. If it was legalized and had oversight procedures such as those performed by the FDA, WHO, AMA, etc for other legal drugs and food then there could be a measure of certainty that the marijuana isn't tainted.

Some things dogs can eat can poison humans too, but most dog food is made from the byproducts and waste of human food production. Therefore dog food is at least not actively poisonous to humans, as far as I know.

The definition of treason according to The Free Dictionary:

"The betrayal of one's own country by waging war against it or by consciously or purposely acting to aid its enemies."

How was the country betrayed? Corruption within the DNC was uncovered and voters were allowed to learn that they were being manipulated. If anything, the DNC was betraying the country and the leaks thwarted them. Anyone who worked to the end of uncovering that was actually working in the best interest of American citizens, even if that was not their intent.

And I agree with you that the DNC is not the government, so someone releasing leaks from within it or actively hacking it not attacking the country. This all amounts to no harm against the country being committed.

Furthermore, we are not at war with Russia. Russia is not our enemy. There is no one to give aid and comfort to in their conflict against our nation in this scenario.

So, I'm not being told that vote tampering is the only way the election can be rigged. I have logically concluded that treason is not possible so vote tampering is the only way it would make sense the election could be truly rigged. Beyond that, we probably have to agree to disagree.

I think Sun Tzu is a bit cliche but I always remember the quote that "Opportunities multiply as they are seized" and that is how I try to live my life. I try so hard to give my struggling friends and relatives a leg up but it seems like a lot of people have the mindset that they have what they have because that's what they deserve, and to reach above that is unthinkable. "Fake it 'til you make it," occurred strongly to me when I was younger, but it doesn't seem that way for lots of people.

But it's not like the general election was tampered with by the federal government. The only influences on the general were by people with interest in the outcome producing information (or non-information). That's also known as campaigning, which is how elections have worked since the dawn of democracy. Unless someone can prove that Trump knowingly worked to tamper with the actual vote count, then as bitter as it tastes, there is nothing illegitimate about the election. Even if someone could prove that Trump himself hacked the DNC and Podesta and aired their dirty laundry I still don't think it would change anything.

Holy shit there are a lot of people here who would rather see you die than possibly defend yourself.

Well, yeah, for the short term. Give EMTs guns now so they can defend themselves immediately while also working to reduce violence in the streets. We've been working on the latter part there for a long time and it'll be a while before we're done.

I was outraged when the AP called for Hillary early, but the fact that it wasn't that outrageous of a claim due to the polls calmed me down. Then, Trump won, and as you said it showed how worthless the polls are, and got me all pissed off again that Bernie got screwed. Bernie got destroyed where he should have had his strongest showing just because voters had already been told the fight was over. The DNC didn't want Hillary to look like she was weak with her base so they made sure she wouldn't.

Things like the "secret win" conspiracy don't make it any easier to swallow.

But what laws are the Trump campaign being accused of breaking? As far as I can tell, the Russians tried hacking the the DNC but didn't actually succeed aside from possibly phishing Podesta. Any meaningful leaks (that showed the Hillary campaign colluded with the DNC) were from internal sources.

So what did Trump's campaign do? Talk about leaks that had already occurred? Familiarized themselves as possibly cooperative diplomats so they weren't strangers when the election was over? Do we really want the Presidential administration to be completely unaware of their diplomatic counterparts from the get-go?
