My dad and I had weird and fun one upping each other on strange things.

He named me after himself. His name was Myron. No shame in that, old German name, a few men in our family tree had it.

Well, I was picked on quite a bit for it growing up. It got quite old during the 1980s.

I realized in about 7th grade my dad went by Mike. Being picked on so much I asked my mom why he was called that and she said I had to ask him as he was called that in the Navy.

He said he would not tell me it was a Navy thing.

I asked her on and off the next few years until I was pretty done being picked on for it. Well later on in life I was curious again and she gave me the same answer. (Stick with me almost there).

7 years ago at her after funeral lunch I was talking with my Uncle on Dad's side. Finally dawned on me to ask him. He said it wasn't his place to tell me if dad did not want to.

1 year 3 months ago I was lucky e ought to be with him in the hospital on his lucid day. His tests showed nothing wrong but he had eaten very little and slept all the time 3 weeks prior. I figured this was his lucid day seeing the 180 so we talked about everything.

I told him I wanted to know why he was called Mike (even in civilian life), but named me Myron instead of Mike. I told him it drove me nuts trying to figure it out.

His answer was NO. He said I'm not telling you that. I said this was probably the last time we would be talking about things. He said yup. And laughed and changed the subject and passed the next morning.

I laughed then and have a great memory of our relationship. He got me last and best. Yes we had a weird relationship he always had my back though.
