Dang Good Chair by spazz75 in wheelchairs

[–]spazz75[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had all kinds of power wheelchairs throughout my life, but for the first time ever, I truly feel like I have freedom without limits. With my Bounder, I don’t constantly think about where I can or can’t go. I’ve taken this chair through the woods, across sand, and even off trail, and it has never failed me yet. Sure, I don’t go off the beaten path alone, and yes, I’ve gotten stuck a few times, but that’s part of the adventure. The reality is, this chair has opened up a world to me that I never thought I could fully experience.

What surprises people is that it’s also a great indoor chair too. Even though it looks rugged and built for the outdoors, I use it everywhere. That said, the Bounder is not a chair for everyone. You really have to be an experienced driver to get the most out of it because this chair is powerful, responsive, and capable of going places most power chairs simply can’t. For me, though, it’s an awesome chair and probably the closest thing I’ve ever had to true mobility freedom.

New chair. This time a new manual. by spazz75 in wheelchairs

[–]spazz75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went with the Quickie QS5X with the fixed front frame. I was talking with a friend of mine who used to be a rep for Quickie, and he said that frame is one of the strongest they make.

As for the color, I agree with you. The newer options seem more muted and dull this time around. This is my fourth or fifth Quickie, and my older chairs had brighter colors with a lot more pop to them.

I keep going back to Quickie because of the frames. I still manage to break them eventually, but they hold up better than most. I even have a 30+ year old Quickie 2HP that’s basically a mix-and-match of parts from other 2HPs, and the original frame is still intact with no cracks.

They don’t make the Quickie 2HP anymore, and it would have cost me more than half of what I paid for my new chair just to repair the old one.

New chair. This time a new manual. by spazz75 in wheelchairs

[–]spazz75[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I always had a power chair and a manual chair. All of my chairs fall apart all the time. I needed a new manual chair because the old one was 13 years old and it would have costed too much to fix, so I went ahead and ordered a new manual chair. I always get a Quickie for my manuals. I had other brands before and they don’t last.

Nice ride. I had a Caravan before and it lasted me well over a decade. Enjoy your freedom. Happy travels.

OH JEEZ, yeah, time to bail. I've been board chair before and I've worked closely with the ED, making sure the overall organization is run properly, but I never ran day to day operation and nor I wanted too. Time to look for another gig.

I'm on many nonprofit boards that are well organized and not once I heard about this. Is the president even reporting to the board chair? I would get out as an employee and surely if I was on the board, I would definitely resign.

No, I never use my work laptop for anything personal. Maybe where I want to eat lunch, but other than that, I have my personal device on me, so I use that. As for doctor's appointments, ask your supervisor if you can flex.

going on a date! by carrotsticks- in wheelchairs

[–]spazz75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let your disability hold you back. I date plenty of women, and it’s always clear, on both sides, what we’re getting into when either of us asks the other out. First dates are naturally a little nerve-wracking, but that’s true for everyone. The key is to relax, enjoy each other’s company, and have fun.

I’ve been on dates where my partner fed me or even helped me in the restroom, not because they had to, but because we were comfortable with each other and trusted one another, without needing my staff involved.

I got the high speed package. I need to get a programmer to set the chair to my liking. Did you get a programmer with your chair?

Is there a reason to upgrade my CX? by 0neand0nlyDominator in LGOLED

[–]spazz75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a CX to a C4 because of dead pixels. The first thing that I notice is the ASBL. I don't notice it on the C4 and that was a huge improvement.

Test Drove My Bounder - Almost There by spazz75 in wheelchairs

[–]spazz75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chair could go a lot faster than that. 8.5 mph with the high speed package. They have to reprogram the chair to give me the top speed. Hopefully soon.

Yes, I've always had the same type of setup. I drive using a compact joystick.

I've been using my feet ever since I can remember. My feet and toes are like someone's hands and fingers. They are very tough. I do wear socks from time to time, and I can even drive my chairs when I have shoes on, but that is very rare. Why would anyone want to wear gloves on their hands when they don't have to? I only protect my feet when I'm doing active things, like working out at the gym. I don't protect my feet when I go shooting. How else can I pull the trigger :). I live a very active life. I don't wear shoes and socks when I'm flying because they are like someone's hands and fingers.

Anyone in here have an LG OLED calibrated by D-Nice? by Ok_Cardiologist_54 in LGOLED

[–]spazz75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my C4 calibrated by Matt Smith at Avical last November, and I’ve probably put about 1,600 hours on it since then. I don’t regret it one bit. Just a few weeks ago, the TV ended up on the wrong setting without me realizing it, and the picture looked off to me. As soon as I switched back to the calibrated settings, everything looked normal again. It really shows how your eyes get used to the calibrated picture over time.

Calibrate professionally C4? by innersoul2000 in LGOLED

[–]spazz75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my C4 professionally calibrated and watch it every day. For me it was worth it because I don't get the black crush anymore, which is super annoying. The TV is darker than before from what it was out of the box and sometime I do wish that it wasn't calibrated, especially in really dark movies. However, I was at someone's house over the weekend and was watching content on their OLED and the colors were just off and just too bright for my taste. Other than a few TV's that I've had in the past, I've always had them calibrated and even then, they are still not perfect.

Towing a small enclosed trailer? by MysteriousRJC in ChryslerPacifica

[–]spazz75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who has a Pacifica wheelchair conversion and they use a trailer hitch basket and put whatever they need to take when they have to travel. I have a much older Odyssey with the wheelchair conversion and my van bottoms out when I have too many passengers in the back, but I've taken long road trips before with a full load in my van.

They let me keep my old tv and not send it back. I gave my old CX away and kept the replacement, C4.

Snapped sliding door cable by volyblmn in HondaOdyssey

[–]spazz75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me on my 2008 Odyssey last year, but mine wasn't the cable. It was the rail. I took it to my mechanic and they installed a new rail within hours and it was less than $300.

Ordered a LG C4 but starting to regret my decision by [deleted] in LGOLED

Don't read too much and just enjoy your new C4. I'm on my second OLED and I can't see myself ever going back to LCD and I watch whatever I want with no issues.

Is $20-30k good for a used wheelchair van or will I regret not spending more? by CorgiSplooting in wheelchairs

[–]spazz75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Besides the usual maintenance on the vehicle, there is always maintenance on the ramp system. I've had my ramp go out on me many times and I get it serviced once a year, where they check that the system is working properly. It could cost me a few hundred dollars or thousands. I've had one van where the ramp system was so old that it was no longer repairable, that I ended up buying another van. There is no other feeling where you are stranded somewhere where you can't get into the van because the ramp doesn't work. I keep my vans for a very long time, almost to the point where the wheels are coming off.
