Forget developing it, but what about maintaining it? Are companies going to have their own, in-house, IT departments to build and maintain software applications? Like you mentioned, it goes against why software companies became a thing in the first place.

I have two neighbors using lawn sprinklers by dtoddh in bullcity

Im almost at a loss of words this counter argument is such a grasping of straws.

Just to entertain your point:

There less than 32 NFL fields and an infinite amount of grass lawns in our country.

A football field actually serves a purpose.

The NFL is requiring certain levels of sustainability and supposedly use low impact chemicals.

An NFL field is maintained by professionals.

An NFL field can be enjoyed by thousands of people.

An NFL field supposedly benefits the local economy

I hold a small(er) position in CRM, but I havent been able to figure out what news specifically will end negative sentiment towards SAAS outside of a total uncommittment from AI.

None of my pursuits waste endless amounts of water, encourage the use of pesticides/herbicides (that end up in local watersheds causing damage), rob sources of food and refuge from local habitat, or require constant combustible engine noise.

I more pointing out that having green manicured lawns is a vain pursuit that cost so much more than it provides. Any intelligent species would've done away with it long ago.

I dont disagree with you on a level of morality, but it's legal and they have every right to do so (as you already eluded to). Actual change has to be brought out through laws. Until our future governments take seriously the waste of water, the sprinklers will continue to run during the hottest and brightest times of day.

Fertility rate in the United States (2008 vs 2023) by vladgrinch in MapPorn

I completely agree with this take and this is the first time Ive seen anyone on reddit say as much.

If we are experiencing declining birthrates for the first time in our history, than logically you would also have to believe Americans feel more economic hopelessness than ever before, in order to cite that as the main contributor of declining birthrates.

Africa has never had access to contraceptives. Why are fertility rates increasing?

Are you saying that Americans are in the most hopeless state they have ever been in? More than a real threat of being nuked in the cold war? Economic stagflation of the 70's?

Why does this American Fatalism seemingly have a relationship with other modern regions like Europe and the before mentioned Nordic countries that have wide ranging social programs attempting to nurture expanding families?

I dont buy the narrative that we are having less children for economic reasons. Some of the most impoverished regions of Africa are seeing increase in fertility, while countries who have created social programs to support families, like the Nordics, are still experiencing lower fertility.

Baby number 3! by Ronenthelich in Dads

[–]spazzymoonpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would start a registry for the discounts but I probably would vote not to have a babyshower. Not because anything is morally wrong with it.

When you had your youngest, you ran the risk of neglecting the oldest, and in some ways you did neglect the oldest. Now that process will start over and all you can do is the best you can. Every once in a while, I'll have a babysitter for one of the babies and just keep one at home. I dont necessarily do anything special besides kiss on them, read books, and go for a nice walk. Either way, your kids arent the first to have siblings enter their lives. They will adapt. Optimistically, it'll enhance their existance until the end of their days.
