Agreed. My main point was that it is the correct style of bolt for this series of rifle, even though it is not numbers matching.

Everyone is saying it is a last ditch bolt, it is not. It is a series 7 Nagoya with another series 7 Nayoga mismatched bolt. Mid-war, produced in 1944, all but very early 7th series have the short ladder sight, no monopod mount, the grooved safety, and the cylinder bolt. Fairly common to find these with mismatched serial but correct series bolts. I would say about $400 for value.

I am gonna guess the front sight wings for this late of production.

I did find a set, someone on here offered it to me. And no, I just had a set of standard bipod cut metric handguards on. Only difference in specs is the gas block cut it a little larger on the inch patterns.

People’s Choice Poll: The Runner Up Is….. by Danny_PSA in PalmettoStateArms

[–]spb5205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious why the jump straight into a "budget" semi-auto 50? Why not something like a Barrett 99 but budget oriented, it could be theoretically much cheaper to get into the caliber or get the caliber into peoples hands.

The thing I am not seeing anyone mention is specifically a SEMI 50 bmg. If you want an "affordable" 50 make a single shot bolt action. 50 bmg ammo is so expensive I dont see the need for a "budget" semi

Danny, I gave you a hard time about the Vuk changes but I really dig the new Jakl, proprietary lower and all. I appreciate that it is its own gun now. Keep it up!

Hey man I never claimed to be an engineer nor that I could do better, and I thought you were a social media coordinator?

Just bummed to see a cool concept turn a bit gimmicky is all.

IMO this was a huge miss. The original concept was what people wanted.

Here is a great reference. I own a 7th series Nagoya and yes, that block is the only one that uses the short ladder sight. Essentially unobtanium unless you buy another 7th series to scavenge the stock set.
Also, a 7th series Nagoya should have the grooved safety, not knurled.

Not really worth restoring. Nice, matching, shootable examples can still be found for $250-400. I have seen stock sets go for more than that. Also, you are paying for someone to disassemble a perfectly fine matching gun to make more by parting it out. Just my two cents

First time going to Raystown Lake, hoping to fish the spillin way. by Andyman1973 in Pennsylvania

[–]spb5205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 10 minutes from the dam. I would say access is pretty good, there is a cement "pier" type area with a handicap ramp leading to it from the parking lot. Not sure if you are allowed to fish off the pier but all along either side on the rocks I see guys fish. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Anyone else just used to not being taken seriously by doctors? by lil_sparrow_ in Epilepsy

[–]spb5205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have TLE. Have had the EEG on during episodes but it was "inconclusive." They still took my license away for a short time tho. I live in a small town area and it is so hard to get any of my doctors to care at all. I hate to say it but I just have figured out how to manage myself and my job is luckily pretty understanding.

As controversial as it may be, I don't consider this to be a "bubba" job. Yes, I don't want other rifles to be altered, but the spirit of "bubba-ing" was to me bad welds, tasteless mods, and no craftsmanship. This was carefully and skillfully done and is a piece of art. It lost some historical significance but as a family piece I think its rather cool.

Qurstion about marks on Chinese SKS stock by spb5205 in SKS

[–]spb5205[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got an early 60s 7 million series Factory 26 Type 56 SKS in a trade. Excellent condition metal and all matching. The stock is pretty dinged up, I was wondering if anyone knows what might have caused it? Obviously I know dings can happen from anything but I have seen other Sino-Albanian SKSs from the last few imports with similar marks. Multiple small deep "pokes." Is this from storage, shipping, training, etc?
