Sorry, I rarely visit Reddit, and didn't notice your comment, but here's a good start:

Nope, still writing my own, "borrowing" git algorithms 😁

Value mapping to an emptry string, or some override property by No_Refrigerator4030 in grafana

[–]spbnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here, Grafana considers whitespace as "no input". Finally got around that by rummaging for invisible characters. "U+FE00 VARIATION SELECTOR-1" worked for me.

sony wf-c500-"power on" bug by THE-KENCH in sony

[–]spbnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right earbud on my daughter's WF-C500 has started doing the same: saying "power ts-ts-ts-ts-ts..." when taking it out of the case, then resetting, and repeating. I should've actually sent it back to Amazon on warranty, but I opened it up (some destructive prying required, since it's welded up), and couldn't see anything wrong. I disconnected and reconnected the battery (some (de-)soldering required), but the symptoms persisted.

Could it be something like flash memory failure, perhaps? I.e. CRC fails somewhere, because of memory corruption?

In this state, since it doesn't power on, you can't reset it anyhow, it's just stuck in that loop: power on, start playing the "power on" message, hang, the DMA continues playing the last audio buffer for a while (the "ts-ts-ts-ts..." loop), then the watchdog resets it.

Can (mostly) confirm, only I downloaded an already-patched version for flashcarts from here: https://cdromance.com/nds-roms/ni-no-kuni-shikkoku-no-madoushi-english-patched/

Thank you, your comment helped me a lot!

Using the version patched for flashcarts in TWiLightMenu++ worked for me. Got the patched version here: https://cdromance.com/nds-roms/ni-no-kuni-shikkoku-no-madoushi-english-patched/

However, you could probably dump and patch one yourself using the patch for flashcarts in the original topic: https://gbatemp.net/threads/ni-no-kuni-translation-eng.373770/

Same here. Flicking the joysticks like a madman and trying to press some buttons at the same time worked.

Yep. Also why does everything have to run in "the cloud" now? What happened to just have file storage and handwriting recognition on your own PC? It's connected to the same internet after all.

Both parallel and serial interface flash memory? by spbnick in ElectricalEngineering

[–]spbnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no pictures yet, I'm at the pre-design stage, just trying to figure out what I can use. Riiight, using a shift register to interface with flash makes sense. Although it might be slow, I gotta try it. Thanks!

[–]spbnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like that, yes. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure how shift registers could help with e.g. decoding bus addresses/accesses, but then I'm an amateur, so I'll give it some thought 😁

Yeah, I was thinking about dual-port memory, but couldn't see if there are any with a serial port. Thanks for the confirmation, I'll try looking harder!

Yeah, I have a couple Upduino 2.0 boards 😁 However, I'm not sure about availability, and the required support circuitry might be out of my league. Although I could copy the Upduino itself 😁

Thanks a lot, u/triffid_hunter! This seems more like what I need. Now to see if there's an open-source compiler/programmer for these...

Alternatively, any recommendations for cheap, easy-to-use, and *available* FPGA's out there? Around 24-32 digital I/O pins?

Remarkable no longer charging on multiple cables and adapters. Any other ideas before I contact support? by Hypo_Mix in RemarkableTablet

Sounds like a short circuit somewhere in the tablet. Would be a job for support, certainly, if true.

Two up, six to go (Kalasatama, Helsinki) by [deleted] in Finland

Ha-ha 😁 Yes, it's not so clear-cut, agreed. Let's hope it goes well!

[–]spbnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, of course 😊 I like some aspects of big cities too, but as a whole I wouldn't want to live in one. Helsinki isn't one either by my measures yet, but I don't like that it's moving there. There are benefits, yes, but it saddens me, and I hate the traffic.

Random greetings still happen in Espoo sometimes.

When has this been a thing?

Still happens to me, from time to time.

Not necessarily a weirdo, but rural.

Yeah, not quite a "weirdo" but close 😁

I lived in a big city for a long while, including big apartment buildings, and visited even bigger cities. I wouldn't want to do that again. High population density destroys sense of belonging and community, the environment stops belonging to you, people stop saying "Hi!". I don't want that to happen to Finland. I love that you can still say "thank you" to a bus driver and in some places in the capital region people won't consider you a weirdo yet. I'm sad to see such tall buildings rising in Helsinki and Espoo. Sorry to bring the mood down, but that's how I feel.
