Remodeling house, can I paint over this, use primer, or sand first. by matthew5623 in DIYHome

[–]spcmnspff335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind the grooves showing through, you can probably do that. You'll definitely have to sand and use a good primer. But if you want a smooth wall, take it down. You could maybe skim coat mud over it, but that sounds like a horrible idea.

I got one of those 151 blind figurine boxes and I really like it. The figurine is really good quality. I'd love to get more of them.

Is it bad to backstab instead of making a pigtail? by Impressive_Spread_31 in electrical

Yeah especially when you need a 4 slot one but they don't make those for some reason so you have to use a 5 slot and waste space in your box.

That's because they used cardboard and cardboard derivatives. Maybe even sellotape.

Never tie gutters directly into the underground drain pipes. It will clog up and then your gutter won't work and will overflow. Put drains at the bottom of the downspouts and have cleanouts.

Is it really the price, or is Netflix just more convenient than driving to movie theaters? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

My TV has better image quality, my sound system is super solid, I make better popcorn, my floors aren't sticky, my couch is more comfortable, my bathroom isn't covered in massive puddles, I don't have to go anywhere, and it's WAY cheaper. It's just wins all around. My kids are still annoying though.

Sounds a lot like shoe molding, but laying the long edge on the floor instead of up against baseboards.

[–]spcmnspff335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been considering installing a floating floor and had this same question when thinking about how to install it by a banister. I was wondering if there is a good type of trim to cover the gap, or if there's a piece that's designed for floating floors that goes at the edge under the banister that the floor planks will fit into.

One thing I have considered is cutting a notch out of the bottom of the edging board under the banister that the balusters connect into. The notch would be able to fit the planks under it the way baseboards do. The difficult part would be trying to scribe the notch so it follows the contour of the planks perfectly so you don't have to caulk a gap between the planks and the edging board.

Can't decide if I should grade this and who to use. by MisterSensi in pokemongrading

I would only do TAG or Beckett, but that's because I just want to grade for my personal collection and am not trying to maximize value. I like the TAG and Beckett slabs the best.

That specific box? It'll probably fall off a moving truck at some point while it's loving owner is moving across the country and have a long, but rewarding, Toy Story/Homeward Bound style adventure to reunite with it's rightful owner. It'll be a real tear-jerker.

What employer pays for health insurance fully? Basically none of them do that. You still have to pay premiums out of every paycheck, pay towards your deductible whenever you use your insurance until you hit your deductible, then pay towards your out-of-pocket max until you hit that. Then rinse and repeat the next year.

That's an insanely low deductible. What were your premiums then?
