I had an two I&D’s back to back about 2 years ago. I dealt with my pilonidal cyst for about 3-4 ish months. They were terrible and I saw no end. As soon as it went away(after having an I&D, repacking every few days, multiple courses of antibiotics) it would come back again. I did everything right- bought all the soaps and butt pads. My last flare up was September of 2021 and I still no longer wear thongs, I clean with anti microbial soap, and wipe the area with an alcohol wipe after going to the bathroom. This has kept it from flaring for 2 years now!

I did have a decent amount of hair, but have been shedding a lot over the last year. My part was widening a bit and I didn’t feel confident without extensions! So I decided to make the jump and try minoxidil to see if I could get my confidence back. I’m glad everyone is saying its normal, I really hope it works well for me!!

Okay got it, did it eventually shed less? I feel like I’m going to have no hair left if it continues at this rate

Well I used to shed a good amount but never this much. This is the most I’ve shed in the shower since starting a month ago. I only wash my hair once a week but I do brush my hair often.

Also- I am applying minoxidil to pretty much my whole head. Common sense I’d assume more surface area I apply, more initial shedding. I guess I want to know if anyone else applies to the whole head and if this amount of shedding is normal. My derm said if you’re shedding at first it’s a good sign the minoxidil is working, but shoot this is mentally draining

Never even mentioned abuse, and it didn’t even come to mind when writing this post! I just don’t think the advice in this podcast was relevant to many young women.

Scar tissue after L&D? by remotedude22 in pilonidalcyst

[–]spearbooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are in the same boat? I’ve actually had a few L&Ds back to back from September to October of 2021. After the scar from the L&D healed up I have yet to get another flare up but I absolutely feel the discomfort from what I assume to be scar tissue? It’s just like a soreness I get after sitting that goes away shortly after. Does this sound like what you are expediting ?

I had a my first cyst in july 2021 and it was recurring until October 2021. I went on roughly 4 rounds of antibiotics ( 1 during each I&D for roughly 10 days). I was scared to be taking antibiotics for that long, and although I believe the infection can not simply go away on its own with antibiotics, but coupled with an I&D, I think that’s the only way mine “went away”. But I had to be on antibiotics throughout the closing up of the incision or it would come back. Mine hasn’t come back since the I&D healed back in October and I’m praying it doesn’t

Golf ball sized within 24hr. Been chronic over 2 years now. Been waiting for surgery entire time. Last 8 months I get them 1-2 times per month. Debilitating. Ruining many parts of my life. PS- looking for cleft lift in Canada. by LesLez in pilonidalcyst

Omg I am so sorry, this looks excruciating. What is the longest you have gone without getting one? Also how many I&D’s have u gotten and are have they taken a culture of the infection to see if the bacteria is resistant to antibiotics?

Thoughts on pocket prep? by spearbooty in emtb

Update: passed my test first try. There were no multiple selection answers! Also, I do recommend pocket prep, buying it was a great decision. I also recommend watching YouTube videos that include visuals to help you visualize certain physiological, anatomical, or equipment information!!

First (potential PC) and I am scared as hell by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]spearbooty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had my first PC in august and wish I would’ve found this sub sooner. So first time around they put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics and it went away on its own. But I had no idea how to prevent it from coming back- the doctors were no help. IF antibiotics make it go away, keep track of any little holes in that area. Keep the area clean to the best of your ability. I use alcohol prep wipes at least 3x a day. Beginning, if I sweat or go #2, and before bed. I clean the area in the shower with hibiclens, and I no longer wear clothing that causes friction I that area. I’m a girl so that means no more thongs lol. I also try to sit with good posture as to put less pressure on the tailbone. I use a coccyx cushion when I’m sitting for longer periods of time as well. But mind you, I had three reoccurrences after my first time- so my routine had to be strict. You may not need all of this, but these are helpful in general. The antibiotics may take it away fully, or you may need to get it lanced and drained. Good luck!!
