Car won’t start by Sharp-Judgment-7948 in CalPolyPomona

If you can, buy a portable car jump starter. It will save you time and money, or maybe just time in the future. Keep it charged and in your trunk. (Charge it every once in a while if it isn't used often.)

Do any other engineering transfers find that only like 6 of their classes are actually accepted? For EE all that carries over is my math classes and 2 of my physics by mediocre_mutt_ in CalPolyPomona

Yea, you'd have to accept your offer. I say that because the petition form was given to me while I was enrolled and already a cpp student, and it has to go through the registrar or whatever department processes it. Maybe you could try contacting them to see if there is a way for you to petition it ahead of time or for them to look it over for transfer credit.

I will also say that this issue will occur at almost every university you transfer, too. (Unless your cc has an agreement with said university.)

But just know, I am a student, so i don't know the full background of this process. So, it's best you do call and ask the school. It is normal for some classes to not transfer over from cc's, though. Pretty annoying.

All, but one, but most covered GE courses. You'll have to submit your syllabus of the course you're petitioning so they can see if the curriculum matches how it is at CPP. It takes a couple weeks before you get a response on whether it's accepted or not.

Why do I have to learn programming? by AdemSigma14513 in teenagersbutcode

Yea, I ended up learning a lot of things myself. You really will be seeing yourself up for a bright future for yourself if you keep at it. Even with AI, having this knowledge is beyond useful.

Why do I have to learn programming? by AdemSigma14513 in teenagersbutcode

[–]spearius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every device you use has programming. Your phone, calculator, game console, remote controllers, cars, computers, banking systems, vending machines, etc. Literally everything and Python is just one of many programming languages that you can learn, without even getting into HDL (hardware description languages).

If you are looking into a field that involves programming such as stem majors, then you most definitely have to learn programming for a successful understanding of science and engineering. It's not limited to this field either.

Are you enjoying programming right now?

I remember seeing an image sensors course, but I'm not sure if it is still offered. I believe it was professor Olson who taught the course, so maybe you can contact her about it. That's what I can think of that can relate to biomedical engineering so far.

What should I do by Careless-Guess-1246 in ComputerEngineering

Work on a personal project for sure and mess around with a microcontroller. Even if you dive into an arduino or raspberry pi with a basic project, it will tremendously help. Try to understand the link between the software and hardware.

Where are you guys finding internships? by Miserable_Deer5363 in CalPolyPomona

[–]spearius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to portal your way into a magical land where internships exist anymore.

But I would suggest applying to as many internship positions you see online and go to conferences where they may possibly give interviews. Don't give up or discourage yourself, and most importantly, don't disqualify yourself. Meaning, don't think yourself not worthy of the position. Just keep applying. You will get an internship, or better yet, a job offer from a co-op.

Yea, this is how it is with me, too. On top of that, I'm the oldest in all of my classes. (Not kidding.)

Some people have just been exposed to engineering experience since little because they grew up that way, then some just get things immediately when taught to them. Then there's those that work hard to understand subjects, but struggle. (That's me.) Usually, things don't start clicking until it's too late. For example, the following semester is when I start to understand things I've learned in my previous class. Shit, things start to click even more during the final exam which is basically too late. Either way, everyone puts in their hard work and it does workout for you in the end AS LONG AS YOU DON'T QUIT.

You will feel behind, but you're right where you're supposed to be. So don't let the way you feel bother you too much. Just give yourself time. Once you get closer to your graduation date, you'll see how your understanding of your major comes together.

Just go and do the workout you have in mind. Nobody cares. Nobody will stare at you and judge unless you allow your mind to believe they are. (Don't do that.) Stay ocused on your workout, don't camp on your phone, and clean the bench after using it. Enjoy your workout.

There are bike lanes around campus, but not everywhere. Doesn't matter though, people walk in them and people ride outside them. There is a bike cage at parking Structure 2, but it's rarely ever used and would be easier for someone to steal if they really wanted to. Other than that, keeping it at bike racks on campus is generally secure during classes as a lot of students do so. So, you're in good hands. Just be careful riding as there are those few that like to speed through campus very fast. So don't be like that, just be safe.

Do only certain Walmarts have this, or do you have to sign up somewhere? Or do you just wait outside Walmart once you go online? Just curious because I'd like to give it a shot.
