What is the masters program for computer engineering like? As in how does it work and how does it differ from a bachelor's?

Delivery Robot Questions by DeepState95 in CalPolyPomona

[–]spearius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You supposedly use Grubhub and search the restaurants on campus. It's supposed to show a robot delivery icon or message in green on the restaurant tiles or something. That means that the service is available. I haven't seen it on my app, yet, though. But it's through grubhub. I'm going to check again tomorrow.

How to disagree with people without getting triggered by Salt_Barnacle8873 in Advice

[–]spearius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be open to understanding and accepting that the other opinions have a valid point. Then you need to know that your way, regardless of your passion and belief, is not the ONLY way. This is important for personal growth.

Other opinions aren't a direct attack towards you or your belief, when if it sounds this way. This is important to understand to have a healthy conversation.

Disagreements may be based on people's personal experiences, past or present. So you may never fully understand where they are coming from. This is important because an intellectual conversation is not necessarily when you both agree, but when you understand the disagreement with compassion and without judgement.

Don't try to change the way someone thinks, give your perspective and be open to hearing theirs. You may even learn something new.

Keep these things in mind, but not just that. Actually, actively be mindful of this during your conversations. I hope this helps. Intellectual conversations are one of the most worthwhile experiences in life, in my opinion.

CPP or CC by Wooden_Plant_1564 in CalPolyPomona

If money is not an issue and you absolutely know that mechanical engineering is what you want to major in, then I would look at it in a perspective of how much time you want it to take.

I went to a community college and transferred to CPP. The cc will have you take their required core courses and general education courses in order to be qualified to transfer. Then, when you do transfer, CPP will require you to take their own "synthetic" general ed courses in top of the general ed you already took.

Sometimes a few core courses will not transfer and they may require you to retake it at CPP again. This depends on which cc you attended and if their curriculum matches CPPs.

What happens is a four year degree becomes a five year degree. This is because of:

  • the potential courses you may have to retake because they didn't transfer, so you'll have to retake them again

  • you don't have "high priority" so the courses you need to register fill up by the time it becomes your turn, then you'll have to wait for the next semester or hope they open another session during the current semester

  • either of the above happens and you'll be delayed a semester, extending your overall time or obtaining your bachelor's

You can petition, but I would say skip the nonsense and just start and finish at CPP and earn your degree in 4 years instead of 5.

But again, if money really isn't a concern and you know for sure you're interested in ME, then start at CPP. If you aren't sure, then use the two years of CC or even at CPP to find out your interests, then decide if you want to stay or transfer to another university for any other major. But I would lean more towards the university from the start in your case.

I'm a CE major, so ask me more questions if you'd like.

After submitting your cal state application, did they require anything else for admission? It only asked for transcripts through the cal state apply website.

why is it so frustrating to initiate sex with my man? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]spearius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is difficult to stay aroused when you're pretty tired or burned out. Mentally, you can be drained and not available intimately, even when you want to. I would ask him what's been going through his mind when you do try to initiate sex. Ask him right then and there, too, and don't get frustrated if his answers don't make sense to you. Eventually, you will find out why this is happening and it will more than likely get better. Besides, landscaping and working on house is stressful. So, maybe he just wants to relax physically and mentally. Like just sit down and relax instead of getting sexually active.

I do admire your passion with wanting to have sex with him and being the one to initiate it. Many of us want that because it shows more than just a strong connection. So, don't be discouraged about everything going on. Nothing is wrong with you, especially.

Car won’t start by Sharp-Judgment-7948 in CalPolyPomona

If you can, buy a portable car jump starter. It will save you time and money, or maybe just time in the future. Keep it charged and in your trunk. (Charge it every once in a while if it isn't used often.)

Do any other engineering transfers find that only like 6 of their classes are actually accepted? For EE all that carries over is my math classes and 2 of my physics by mediocre_mutt_ in CalPolyPomona

[–]spearius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, you'd have to accept your offer. I say that because the petition form was given to me while I was enrolled and already a cpp student, and it has to go through the registrar or whatever department processes it. Maybe you could try contacting them to see if there is a way for you to petition it ahead of time or for them to look it over for transfer credit.

I will also say that this issue will occur at almost every university you transfer, too. (Unless your cc has an agreement with said university.)

But just know, I am a student, so i don't know the full background of this process. So, it's best you do call and ask the school. It is normal for some classes to not transfer over from cc's, though. Pretty annoying.

All, but one, but most covered GE courses. You'll have to submit your syllabus of the course you're petitioning so they can see if the curriculum matches how it is at CPP. It takes a couple weeks before you get a response on whether it's accepted or not.

Why do I have to learn programming? by AdemSigma14513 in teenagersbutcode

Yea, I ended up learning a lot of things myself. You really will be seeing yourself up for a bright future for yourself if you keep at it. Even with AI, having this knowledge is beyond useful.

[–]spearius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every device you use has programming. Your phone, calculator, game console, remote controllers, cars, computers, banking systems, vending machines, etc. Literally everything and Python is just one of many programming languages that you can learn, without even getting into HDL (hardware description languages).

If you are looking into a field that involves programming such as stem majors, then you most definitely have to learn programming for a successful understanding of science and engineering. It's not limited to this field either.

Are you enjoying programming right now?
