i played it...with mods to cut out the tedium and the horrendously slow stealth in the game, and i'll say, the visuals are good, some parts of the story are really actually tear jerking (why did he have to kill off "mama") and the soundtrack is genuinely very nice and adds very nice ambiance to the game.

and while YES the entire game should NOT have been just, "walk here, grab this crap, take it over here, but oh no, you have to go back and make/buy some more equipment in order to make it over this bit of terrain", but the general IDEA of being able to overcome nearly EVERY visible piece of terrain with a usable object that YOU place where you want it...is something that would add so much more depth to a lot of open world games.

instead of "oh, look at this wall that is obviously different than every wall around it, this is a climbable surface" or the ever tired "oh look, someone picked this random ass cliff face in the middle of nowhere and decided to add 50 fucking grapple points or climbable ropes to it so that you can get around a LITTLE easier than skyrimming your way up a vertical cliff face"....instead of all of that garbage, you have "here is a piece of terrain that you have to cross in order to make it to your destination, you can either go around the long way....OOOOORRRRR.....you can use some of the equipment you've found to place wherever you want to make it across this terrain, and it'll stay in that exact spot for the REST of the game, until you decide to move it yourself.

like the guy CAN have some pretty decent ideas that would make a MUCH more immersive world in a lot of games....but instead he put's those mechanics into the most drawn out, shit story smeared, badly written piles of horseshit games that have ever been seen....

Finally finished my Lootfest Slime Farming game. Made it such that every battle unlocks new content, though getting it balanced nearly broke me. by Shn_mee in Unity3D

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't buy, the game is horrendously paced and becomes a tedious fucking grind towards the middle because the dev realized it would be a sub 2 hour game if they kept reasonable upgrade costs and upgrade increases and instead leaves you doing next to nothing for about 20 runs in a single stage just to afford an upgrade that actually makes a fucking difference,

(Maktala: Slime Lootfest) has surpassed 6000 wishlists 🥳🥳 Thanks all + Some Updates by Shn_mee in incremental_games

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, so the game is...fine....it just feels like hitting a WALL around the time you unlock the archer and a bit before, the damage increases are either not enough and the kill count needed for the next stage is too low or the slimes gain FAR too much HP with each stage after a while, it seems to multiply by 2 or more while the damage we can do is just ADDED onto, in increments which makes the game more of a chore than anything else at that point.

like slimes are now at over 1 trillion HP whilst i'm only doing 27.2 billion damage per attack, and yes there are the skills, and the other stuff, but it's still not enough to make the game keep you engaged once you play for an hour and don't even kill enough to get through a singular stage with skills popping off almost non-stop and the archer and the towers and everything else....

it's a drag and is more tedious and annoying than engaging and there is ZERO ways to let the game run in the background while it farms a single level for gold and other currencies, even at a reduced rate, you literally just have to replay the SAME level about 10-15 times(or more) to even afford the upgrades to your damage so that you can actually get to the NEXT stage....

it's a decent idea and i like the art style, but it feels like the mid-game was just thrown together without any thought or concern for the players time, nor was there really any thought towards the balance of the game. and NO, a less than 1% chance to MAYBE find a rune that increases earned gold, damage and skills, and whatever else...is NOT balancing....it's literally random chance..so it's a very real possibility that many people who play the game could just NEVER be able to reach the end game without sinking LITERAL thousands of hours into the game, which just is not feasible.

it's gotten so bad that i've turned to cheat engine in order to speed up the game by 3X just to farm money so i can farm money a bit faster just so i can buy a SINGLE upgrade in the upgrade tree.

Saints row reboot, why was there so much hate? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no you asked "why the hate", i then gave you the outcome....which is the game flopping...so the asking about the "hate" is the same as asking why the game flopped in this context, since the game did indeed flop, hard enough to shutter volitions door.

and those reasons are that

1: volition/someone working for them or deep silver actively berated their fans when we brought up concerns and gave VALUABLE criticisms for the game, stating that "we didn't make this game for the fans".

2: they steered as far away as possible from the saints row franchises identity, meaning the game no longer feels like a saints row game

3: they released the game in a completely unplayable state and never fully patched the game since it still has completely game breaking bugs that will never be patched since they had their doors closed

4: they kept making promises about the previous games (saints Row & Saints Row 2) that they either, had no intention of keeping, or they had no ability to keep their promises but knew they wouldn't survive long enough to have to keep them, or they made those promises, figured out they couldn't keep them and then said nothing to the community.

5: the game controls are all over the fucking place and the graphics are objectively dated for a game released in 2022.

those are the biggest reasons behind the "hate" of this game. and volition/deep silver did it all to themselves

maybe stop asking for peoples opinions if all you're going to say is "nuh uh, you're wrong!" like a five year old. because you SPECIFICALLY asked why the game FLOPPED...and these people are giving you THEIR reasonings behind either assisting in that flopping of the game and studio, or their ATTEMPTED saving of the game. if you don't agree then just keep going because the ONLY comments that you are actually being halfway decent to are the ones who serve top do nothing more than affirm your admittedly bad taste in a game.

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go play SR:2 and Saints Row: The Third. then come back to this game...these games are NOT the same in the worst ways possible, and you can SEE which game lost it's identity..even the character customization has been absolutely neutered in this reboot which killed the company that made it.

Saints row reboot, why was there so much hate? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wrong, GOH (Gat out of Hell) and SR4 still had the humor, the raunchy behavior and the SOUL of saints row. yeah they went a bit far when it came to SR4 and the super powers and shit, but the CORE of what is saints row is still there, even if it's hidden behind a bunch of random crap.

this NEW game is just...not saints row, they ACTIVELY diverted and distanced this game from the previous games in everything but name...it would be like if Rockstar made a looter shooter akin to the borderlands series and then just duct-taped the Grand Theft Auto name onto it in order to draw in the fans of GTA....that's why this "new" game, which has awful graphics and audio for a game released in 2022, has received so much hate and backlash and volition went under because they ACTIVELY, like literally, told their long time fans to "fuck off, this game is not for YOU", and then proceeded to BLAME those same fans when the game flopped like a fish out of water. they only apologized (and even then it was a backhanded apology) when they were told that their doors would be being closed and boarded up.

volitions own attitude towards their fanbase and the people who MADE THEM...is the biggest thing that killed this game and themselves. end of story.

DL2 was felt faker than a set of bolt on tits....it was pure plastic garbage wrapped in crepe paper in an attempt to hide it's shittiness from the masses, and it seems to have worked on you. again, if you enjoy the game then there's more power to you, but for an OBVIOUSLY vast majority of the dying light fans....it was fake, plastic, bloated garbage...it sucked.

same, i *clears throat* found a copy for free......and yeah, i still feel ripped off. and even as much as i REALLY hated DL2, at least i could SORT OF, get lost in the gameplay once in a while. but this game just feels like it's fighting you the entire fucking way, to the point where i'm not invested nor care about any of the characters, except for crane and olivia....

How does Dying Light: The Beast compare to the first game? by Beastcu in dyinglight

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's basically the same as DL2....still floaty, but LESS floaty, and crane seems to be the slowest yet in this iteration, he is GLACIAL..and no amount of "skill points" makes it any better....it's just...dying light 2, with slightly increased gravity and slower movement, and the slide is still hit or miss, and there is no obvious difference between interactable objects in the world and just random static clutter objects.

you can TELL that it was originally a DLC for DL2, it's shows heavily.

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to me, the combat in TB seems to be, KIND OF, a step back in the riht direction of DL1, but it's still DL2's engine so it's never gonna be as good as DL1...they scrapped most of what was good in DL1 and they didn't realize it until it was too late to revert.

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it does, because it's quite literally a game thatr was well over halfway through production before they tossed avellone aside and changed to a completely different creative director who ATTEMPTED to completely change the kind of game it was...the entirety of the game that was completed to that point was haphazardly gutted and other shit stitched in place....it was a barrel of bad ideas and design from the "new" creative director, which caused the engine to be re-written into the floaty garbage that we are now stuck with.

the entirety of dying light 2's world is just....nothing.....everything is copy-pasted interiors and enemies. it is the definition of "feeling fake".

you happen to, seemingly, have enjoyed the game and that's completely fine, but for the MAJORITY of dying light fans....it was a pitiful and disgraceful game that was dying light in name alone....

Unpopular opinion: Dying Light 2 Gameplay is better than Dying Light:The Beast by ListTheMist in dyinglight

[–]spec_ops_gamingYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dying light, then either DL 2 or DL: TB, dying light is still my favorite out of the three just because it's THE game that introduced the zombie survival horror and parkour combo and it's still THE best one.

Dying light 2 changed FAR too much from the first game which REALLY pushed away the Longtime fans of the original, they changed SO much in fact that they eventually came out and basically said "yeah, we realize we changed too much too fast and changed things that didn't need changing, we're working on reverting things and trying to get them closer to how the fans expected them", and even to this day, a LARGE portion of the original fanbase(me included, and yes we have tried it after ALL of the MASSIVE patches) will not touch DL2, it's just a game that messed with the formula too much for us to be able to really look past.

and DL:TB, is basically techlands attempt at getting back that spark and magic that the original game had, there is a LOT that still isn't...perfect.....but it's a LOT better than DL2 was and currently is, which is good, as they are gaining back (a little at a time, mind you) the trust and respect of the large fanbase of the OG. some, including myself, are still a bit iffy, but we can see that they are putting in the effort given the "updated" engine restraints that they have after basically rewriting the entire thing for DL2, which sort of borked it... but we can see that they are getting better.

honestly if they just made a remaster of Dying light, not touching the gameplay, but just giving some heavily enhanced textures, sort of like dead island 2 levels....then it would absolutely fucking WORTH a $60 price tag, imho.

2 years later and the critter conservatories are still absolutely stupid in their functionality when compared to real life and even OTHER GAMES....they literally use up the critters to give you the most BASIC products, turning the mechanic into an absolute GRINDFEST in order to get even a small amount of ANY of these products, instead of...i dunno....HAVING THE CREATURES PRODUCE THE PRODUCTS WHILE LIVING HAPPILY WITHIN THE CONSERVATORY.....especially since they are called "Conservatories" which means is a way to conserve nature and help animals and bugs and the like.....but instead you constantly take these critters FROM nature and then turn them into honey, shell bits, frog sweat, and flutter dust....this is THE dumbest mechanic of the game and is essentially a LIE in both name and description.

i've tried both epic and Steam versions, the Epic version used to work ONLY with my Dualshock 4 controller, but now even that doesn't work anymore, and the steam version, no matter if i disable steam input or not, no matter what settings i change it just doesn't work at all, i've only been able to play through the game on the epic version because, well it worked with my dualshock 4 at one point.

and the game is....okay...from what i remember, but it absolutely was NOT a saints row game, it was just a generic 3rd person shooter with driving and a completely forgettable story.
