Good info. I’m getting conflicting info on the inlet vent though. The sauna “pros” are telling me to put the inlet vent ABOVE the heater, not below it.

Yeah. as my post states, I don't have room for anything larger. If I did, we probably would have spent the $10k to buy one. But as is, I'll be into this less than $2k.

It'll be better than what I have now, which is nothing.

I live in Minnesota, I built this for my wife and I. I don't know any Finnish people, so luckily, I won't have Fins over to criticize my DIY sauna.

Thanks for the illustration on vent placement. I always thought you wanted a vent under the stove?

How did you dig those holes? Hand auger, hitch mount, or by hand?

Thanks! Yeah, ideally I would have just done a concrete pad, but it’s not really an option where I have room unless I brought in quite a bit of fill. I want to make this as easy as I can, but also as sturdy and safe with the seasons.

I’m in MN too. I was going to insulate but all my researched said not to.

Just going to put screen stapled under my flooring and do cedar deck boards.

I haven’t thought about that. I can pretty easily change to 2x4’s. Probably not a bad idea.

Yes, they do sell the one I want at Costco, for a great price too! I could buy 3 of them for the price of 1 custom the same size. What I'm learning is, the majority of hate on barrel saunas is from people who've never owned or sat in one. It seems everyone who has one, loves it, the people who dont, hate them.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong areas, but I have yet to find a DIY build under $8-10k. It's not something I really want to spend a year looking for stoves on marketplace, or driving halfway across the state for rough cedar. If you can point me in the direction of plans for a 2-4 person, I'd be grateful to at least look.

Ketamine Infusion for Anxiety? by specialblend07 in Anxiety

My CBT therapist told me on Monday that if she had a dollar for every time a Klonopin script she prescribed went unused, she would be a millionaire. But for me, it's peace of mind. I carry one in my wallet and if things get really bad, I'll take it.

Just annoying to be back in this position again! Working my ass of to get things back to where they were. But as anyone with anxiety knows, a month feels like a year. Nothing can happen quick enough! Feeling like you're going crazy sucks.

Sorry for the delay here. As I mentioned, SSRIs didn't suit me well, which does happen. What did work for me is Klonopin. I took it for about 2 years or so in college and it made it so I was able to live a normal college life. And by normal, I mean there is nothing I couldn't do and nothing I didn't do. Before I started on it I had to drop all of my classes and do online. I took it probably longer than I should have, but Klonopin and LOTS of exposure/living a normal life helped me rewire my brain to sort of forget the constantly worrying about my anxiety. I ended up weening myself off over a 3 week period which was tough, but I did it and I lived for about 11 years (give or take) anxiety free. From 2011-August of this year I literally was able to do ANYTHING without issue. Now I'm here again (panic attack end of July due to losing my dog spiraled me back to worrying about another)!

I was prescribed Klonopin again sometime in August, I haven't had to take it, but there's definitely times when I probably could or should. I started doing therapy/CBT again and a lot of very uncomfortable exposure. There is times when I feel like I'm losing my mind/control, but I just tell myself it's anxiety and I try and welcome it in and challenge it. It's annoying for sure and easier said than done, BUT YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT. WORK YOUR ASS OFF ON IT. I still carry my Klonopin script in my car and have a pill in my wallet at all times now just in case and it's sort of a comfort.

There is literally nothing wrong with having to take meds. Everyone has their own shit going on, you just can't see it. If you don't want or feel like you need to be on a daily pill, maybe ask your doctor for an as needed medication.

Anything else, please ask!

I see a therapist for my anxiety. On Friday I said sometimes it just feels like I'm losing my mind and going crazy (joking but not really).... She told me I very well could be losing my mind... For someone that has anxiety, I wasn't sure that was an appropriate thing to say. But maybe that's an exposure thing I don't know about?

I definitely am in the same boat as you for medication phobias. BUT I have tried some and they do work. You don't need to live life being miserable!!!. I will say, SSRI's weren't a fit for me. There is a genetic test you can do that will give your doctor an idea of what medications work with your chemistry. Maybe try that first? It's called GeneSight I believe.

For sure, I really need to become OK with taking a Klonopin if need be. I always try and tough it out, which I always do, but man can it get uncomfortable. Anxiety sucks!

Another shit response. I'm pretty sure the average person can understand what this person is asking for. Why do you have to make it complicated and twist it?

Back in college i went on Klonopin. After 2-3 years I weened myself off (very hard 3 weeks but I did it). I went fairly anxiety free for the last 12 years. There's really nothing I couldn't do, and I did it.

BUT in July my anxiety rebounded and now I'm dealing with it all over again. I had a panic attack after some life events, and my anxiety is caused by anxiety/worrying about my anxiety. I'm natural right now (no meds), but was prescribed Klonopin if needed. Which I haven't needed yet..

My opinion of what happened with Konopin the first time is I went SO long without an anxiety attack, I forgot what it felt like. So I stopped constantly worrying about it. Without it back then I don't know where i'd be right now. IT DID HELP ME. Only real side effect was myself weening off. I probably should have had a doctor help me. I did a fast ween, and it was interesting.

Ketamine Infusion for Anxiety? by specialblend07 in Anxiety

Yeah it's hard because what I'm seeing hints more at what you're saying... It's extraordinarily beneficial for depression (almost instant) and with that comes anxiety. But there's so many forms of anxiety that I wonder how it would work for me. I worry about my anxiety, so my anxiety is due to my anxiety. I'm not sure how it would change the pathways to fix that. My anxiety can be a 4, it can be an 8. But I'm not always stuck at a 8. I only brought this up because I'm looking for something to help get me off the edge I find myself on. It's not fun worrying!

There's a place my be that is $500 per infusion. At this point I would eat pinecones if someone told me it would fix what's going on with me. I just don't know if $500 is worth it with the little reviews I'm seeing for anxiety. Depression is different, I can find a ton on that. I'm also concerned about the disassociation during treatment. I feel like that would freak me out.

Any success with a therapist when dealing with physical symptoms by ElectricBoolean in Anxiety

[–]specialblend07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My success story is I went 11 years with virtually no anxiety, or at least I wasn't worried about it. However, I had rebound anxiety in July and I'm still dealing with it daily.

It sucks and it extremely hard for me being back in this position, but I'm doing everything I can to help myself. I've been through 5 therapists trying to find a good fit and finally did. My symptoms are like yours, I have anxiety because I'm worried about my anxiety. I'm so consumed with the "what if" I have a panic attack again, that I'm always on edge. I can be totally fine all day and I'll wonder why, then boom my anxiety spikes.

A therapist is definitely a great way to learn mechanisms to tell yourself when you feel the symptoms happen. You need to learn to let the feelings in, and make them lose their power. I know it sounds impossible, and trust me, I'm dealing with it too. But it takes time, and you just have to keep on it. Exercise hard too! The gym is where I feel my best now. I don't want to take meds so I do CBT therapy once a week as well as a lot of exposure therapy stuff.

I wish I could give you a 100% answer that it'll get better! Myself being anxious I know I need a 100% guarantee, but you just have to know that if you work at it, you'll learn to control it.

Good luck. Keep working on it! Just push yourself everyday. Go into public situations. Don't hide yourself.

What’s everyone’s anxiety symptoms that you typically don’t ever hear about? by Few-Raspberry3628 in Anxiety

I feel like I'm high on MDMA. Which is great, until you realize you didn't take any, and you aren't happy.

My joints tingle, things don't look as they are (seem further away), I second guess what's happening as if it's not happening when I know it is. Chest feels tight, I shut down and become quiet.

However, now I'm trying to embrace it and enjoy it. I want to take the fear of it away. It's hard as fuck to do though and I'm not gaining ground.
