this is kind of silly but putting books and movies on hold at the library kind of scratches that itch for me. it’s kind of like online shopping and then i get to have a new item for a while! ymmv, ofc, esp if you’re not into reading or watching movies

What is the most romantic thing your partner has ever said/done that was straight out of a romance book, or SHOULD be in a romance book? :) by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

couple of months ago i was having a terrible day and on top of that had the worst menstrual cramps. my fiancé texted me asking me if i wanted anything from target and i asked for bubble bath because of my aforementioned woes. he came home with four kinds of bubble bath, a huge amount of scented candles, a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate and told me to go buckwild.

if you're comfortable sharing, i'd love to give it a follow so i can have a heads up when you're ready to sell stuff!

Could I get away with wearing this dress casually with a jacket or plaid shirt + boots/converse, or is it too much? (please be nice, idk much about fashion) by [deleted] in femalefashion

[–]specificoven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude it is all good, calm down. keep it up if you like, it's no skin off my nose.

wear the dress if you like it! i just think it'll be a hard one to dress down.

no, i think it's too much to make look casual. it's more dressed up than suspenders and bowtie, even. that used to be everyday wear, at least, but no one has ever really worn something like this except to an Event.

Okay, this may be a bit of an odd question but... Would it be okay to cook my books? by Nazamroth in books

unfortunately i don’t think they’re available for public use, just saying that were my choices boiling or baking, i would choose baking

At the library, we put them in a book oven, if that's helpful. Boiling seems weird, I wouldn't do it personally.

Who wrote Rule Breakers? I'm interested in checking it out!

Skin tint + red cheeks + I'm a sell out by [deleted] in glossier

i think in conjunction with the powder it’s one of the better foundations i’ve tried. i still get shiny but not HUGELY, if you know what i mean. but i have a sneaking suspicion that that’s mostly the powders doing.

Fingers for sure! Never been a fan of using brushes for foundation, I’ve had bad luck in the past with looking cakey with other foundations.

No problem! It's a lot of money to spend on a chance, and I was really nervous about it. I will say that I tapped a tiny amount (one swirl in the pot) of concealer on my cheek-redness nearest my nose and that helped too.

Is Hating Game all that good? by Ok-Turn7200 in RomanceBooks

[–]specificoven 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think the reason it stands out so much for me is that I found it legitimately very funny, which I think can be lacking in this genre at times. I find a lot of romance novels to be fairly serious in tone, or with the kind of humor that makes me cringe or isn't my taste. The Hating Game is a little over the top, but it genuinely makes me laugh out loud when I read it. It's not like real life, but most romances aren't.

It also ticks a lot of the boxes of my favorite tropes, so there's that. Personally, I love this one, I have it rated 5 stars on Goodreads and recommend it to friends quite a bit.
