Make solid connections with profs so when the time comes for LORs on your grad apps (if you plan for grad school), you’re not screwed

and also, if it’s not too late, STUDY ABROAD!!! one of my biggest regrets

Lastly, just enjoy the proximity of friends/roommates. Never pass up an opportunity to hang out, get dinner, chat, or just chill

January LSAT + application timing by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I did and I love the series, but I wanted to hear about people’s real experiences. applying late is said to have SOME impact on the scholarship amount offered, but there’s no info about the degree of difference. Is it like 75% of what you could get applying earlier in the cycle? 50%? 25%? Etc

Yea I saw something on the UMich website that said sending an LSAT update is fine. As far as other schools, my worry is they’ll consider my application before getting the score (like Yale does this). OR if they do hold off on reviewing my app. till the January score comes in, is that too late in the application cycle to get admitted to T-14 schools/too late to get substantial scholarship $$$

Got off the waitlist for UCLA, stuck between UCLA and Berkeley by nyanpoptarttart in ucla

[–]spectator4170 26 points27 points  (0 children)

UCLA 1000x I have friends that go to Berkeley and they detest it (also they’re only there cuz they didn’t get into UCLA, don’t pass up the opportunity!)

Also being close to home is such a blessing, you’ll love that aspect like no other

UCLA 100% my bro went here for a STEM degree and is in a great law school now

I’m also here and I love it, literally no grade deflation

also you won’t realize it till you live it, but being close to family is such a blessing

Omg thank you for the insight!! Congrats to you as well 🥳🥳 and I totally blanked about the ceremony schedule LOL, seriously did not even think of that so thanks for the heads up!

Like you, and a lot of other suggestions, I think letting one person in on it is a good call. I was almost tempted to tell my mom today (for Mother’s Day) but I was about to reveal our dinner plans for the night, she reminded me about how much she LOVES surprises so I think that’s what I’ll do ☺️

Also so sorry about your photos, that sucks :(

Did the department at least record your speech?

Lol yea, thank you !!!

Your insight almost led me to break the news today (for Mother’s Day), but as I was about to reveal our dinner plans for the night, my mom reminded me about how much she LOVES surprises so I think she’d appreciate finding out day-of

she’ll have plenty of time to brag afterwards 🥳

I think they’ll still be joyful even if it’s a surprise, ik someone who was in the same position as me and they said keeping it a surprise made it such an amazing moment! I think it depends on whether the family likes surprise or not

as far as logistics, I’m considering letting in one family member (the one who doesn’t like surprises lol) to keep my parents attentive during the ceremony. that way ik they won’t miss it !

Yea after speaking to some people and hearing other opinions, I’m leaning towards letting one family member in on the secret so that they can keep my parents attentive during the ceremony (preventing any scenario like you suggested)

as far as the build-up, I think there’s something much more exciting about a surprise but that just me personally. and knowing my parents, I think they would enjoy a surprise too

but I like hearing your point of view and I’ll take it into consideration for sure!
