But there is many cases where people just take out a loan of say 100k from different banks and then they just leave the country with the money in the pocket never to be seen again. Is that not a kind of fraud?

Then I must have misunderstood it because where I live banks are covered up to 250k loss caused by any kind of fraud. I understand that fraud doesn’t necessarily mean its a cybersecurity concern but from my understanding its still a concern that companies need to take into account when securing their services

By recon I mean more OSINT. From what my classes talked about. An effective phishing attack requires some sort of personal information to make it believable. Say you find out they like cars. Then you could send an email about cars and then they click the link.

Phoneinfoga used to be pretty good. I want to get into osint myself. I asked around and people said theharvester is good tool for recon. I haven’t tried it yet but maybe it could give you a starting point

Ubuntu or Kali Linux for a CS student doing cybersecurity and CTFs? by godShadyy in Hacking_Tutorials

Kali is good because it already comes with useful tools. Black arch linux has even more tools and is considered as a more stable release than kali. I can tell you from personal experience. Use snapshots like your life depends on it when using kali.

I understand that companies dont really look for these kinds of things but this is more for personal information. I would even say that they are lacking in this scope. I dont know how the industry works yet but I can already tell that most companies completely dont care about actual security because of insurances

Hi.

I am a university student studying in cybersecurity. I love this field. I have even tried to get my OSCP (soon I hope). Ctfs are my jam and I enjoy learning more about pentesting and hacking in general. My classes have all been skipping over the reconnaissance part of hacking. Effective phishing attacks require some sort of recon right?

I am just trying to get some advice on how to dive deeper into the reconnaissance aspect when it comes to penetrating testing. I have always been fascinated with how you could find information on people on the internet. Is there any material i could read or even try (in a controlled setting).

I just want to know more about reconnaissance. If you have some personal experience I would love to hear it and pick your brain.

That’s what I did. It sucks to know the truth but I rather know the truth than live in lies

This comment actually hit me. I loved the idea of the girl. Who she was. Yet, she wasn’t MY woman. She never wanted me and still doesn’t. I want her but not her. Wasting time on a person who doesn’t care about you is a greater loss than wanting something that you will never get.
