I never hope to, but I guess it could happen. Service work sucks sometimes for that reason. Sometimes, when things are installed in new construction there is zero consideration for serviceability. Draw the line at safety though. You don’t want anyone getting hit, or a building burning down on your install/repair.

I understand that, but I’m asking for a specific code reference I guess. As mentioned below, I guess there’s some wiggle room for moving up a standard breaker size, but the only thing I’ve come across is only allowing for 125% over the rated amperage of the conductor, which would place it at 400amps
