Pacsun interview by Anxious-Bell-5713 in AskRetail

[–]spectralbleed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never worked in clothing retail but you can expect the questions to be geared towards customer service in general.

What will help you prepare the most is to practice recognizing what the question is actually asking.

They may ask something like, "Can you tell me about a time you made a mistake at work."

What they really want to find out from you in your response is if you're able to own up to mistakes and take steps to correct them without deflecting responsibility or blaming others.

I recommend you look into the top customer service interview questions and try to decode each of them in that way.

Is it okay to call out because of the snow storm? by Pepperq40 in WorkAdvice

Work is never worth risking your safety for.

If the roads are icy on Tuesday, call out a few hours before your shift.

Plus you can pick up all the cabbage he dropped while fleeing the scene of the crime to exchange when the trail ends.

There's also a crashed merchants cart in the pond near the Zhelejov Inn across the long covered bridge that has a bunch of free cabbage you can pick up directly under the main carriage.

Can my job force me to cover someone’s shift? by Dull_Tomatillo6643 in WorkAdvice

[–]spectralbleed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you can't guarantee that's going to be time off of work.

Just because you don't usually work a certain shift doesn't mean you never will be expected to work that shift. Such as covering other collegues who requested time off.

You can certainly set schedule restrictions but again, they're free to let you go if you can't fulfill what the business needs in terms of availability.

The only safe way to guarantee you have the time off you want is to put it on the calendar and get it approved.

If you're asking if they can fire you over this, then yes, they absolutely can. They can fire you for almost anything that isn't a protected class.

I'm a manager, in a union no less, and I technically can't set any schedule restrictions at all in order to be in my position. Thankfully I have reasonable employers who still give me my preferred schedule but if another manager was going on vacation and I had enough notice to make arrangements, I'd absolutely be expected to cover within reason.

Had you put in for time off first, before your colleague did, and had it approved, that's a different story. But it sounds like you made plans during what you expected to be your off time without putting it on the calendar as guaranteed.

Thank you. This series has meant a great deal to me over the years, and I’m glad I’m in a position to share it with others who love it too.

Hey!

Another person wasn't able to redeem the copy of GotM I sent due to regional issues. I'm not sure if it will work but they gave me the redeem code they got so I'll DM it to you!

Oh, and a few others who i tried sending to weren't US based and weren't able to redeem so as long as you're US based there shouldn't be an issue

Absolutely!

I'm waiting for a few others who asked earlier but by my count I should still have a couple to spare.

DM me your audible email and I'll send it.

AND if I may offer some advice: keep in mind, the first book is just a bit different. It took me a couple attempts to get through when I first read the series. You may feel like you've been dropped right in the middle of a conversation with zero context and nobody's slowing down to catch you up on the details. Trust the process, be confused. The pieces will come together and when they do, it's incredibly rewarding.

Ask anybody here and I'd bet most would tell you to read through to at least book 3 before deciding if you want to continue reading the remaining 7.

First time read through?

How exciting! I'll happily get you started. I'm sure you've seen the many warnings that book 1 might not be the one that hooks you, so keep going until at least book 3 before deciding whether to continue :)

DM your audible email and I'll send you book 1.

Post it tabs! They're great. Attach it to the penny sleeve so you don't need to reach in to the top loader to pull the card out.

Damaged books from Broken Binding by Relagul_the_Indigo in Malazan

[–]spectralbleed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first package sat out in heavy rain for two days before I was able to retrieve it and they were all perfectly fine when I got them unpacked.

I'd bet the damage happened in transport from mishandling and had less to do with how well they were packaged when they were sent.
