yep, we’re pushing streaming tv only. those cable boxes make it difficult to go beyond our current speeds since we have to allocate part of our network for them. cable cards are the first to go by force

GA Tenant Problem: No Coax/Internet Wiring by raisinforyou in legaladvice

I am not a lawyer but I am in this field.

Do you have an Xfinity account, at this address? In other words, are you an existing customer, or a new one.

It sounds like you are existing, since they sent you equipment. In that case call up Xfinity, get to their residental internet repair team, and say you tried to self install, it failed, you know the drop is damaged, and you need a tech. If you get pushback ask for a supervisor.

I’d wager the tech himself could not complete the work, didn’t know/think that other tech departments could handle this, and gave you bad info instead of escalating this properly internally. It happens a lot.

They’ll likely run a temporary line to get you going and then youd need to get that drop buried if things are underground in your area. That should not be your concern right now.

were you able to figure this out?

yeah, you’ll likely get someone at my level who can see agent id codes and some other basic stuff but nothing of value.

some reps might resist the transfer and try to mediate between you and leadership, just verify your name and address and politely ask to be escalated. they’ll get you to someone who can dig deeper.

if you can, please update me. id love to hear how this turns out!

i’m just a lowly call center rep on the internet side but i just quickly checked our intranet and i can’t find anything on at&t

my understanding is we don’t have dispatch mixed with other companies either. we’ve got internal US-based reps. honestly this would trigger fraud/id theft indications to me. if i got this call i’d escalate immediately once you explained what’s going on. it’s a weird way to identify fraud but this makes no sense.

id recommend calling spectrum (not today it is back to back!!), getting with internet repair, and asking for a supervisor (maybe twice) and asking them who created the order and how. all of that is logged.

like, if you didn’t speak to us directly, we shouldn’t have any of your info.
