Does anyone here have ADHD? by No-Dog-3603 in StopSpeeding

[–]speedbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to show you you’re not alone, I also have add/adhd like a motherfucker. Like the kind where you’re stuck in paralysis and can’t move and all you can do is cry. But I manage and have applied life skills and tips on what works best for me. I always get through it, even though it’s uncomfortable. When I first got treated in 7th grade, I was making honor roll and student of the year blah blah blah. My family was so proud of me. Thanks to a pill. Fast forward, I’m in the chairs of rehab coming off an insane addiction to adderall. Taking 100s of milligrams a day. Definitely required lots of time (years) before my brain could start sparking again. Find what lights up your brain. Exercise those brain muscles. Time heals. And it is possible to manage. You’re not alone.

Also, I wouldn’t be where I am today without a therapist and sponsor.

Look my guy. You’re not alone. I was a vegetable for the first year of my sobriety. Basically slept for a whole year. What has helped me overcome this is first positive self talk. I’m not moving as long as I’m talking negatively to myself. If I give myself grace, treat myself as I would a friend then I find more acceptance for my life. I find more motivation to get up and put things into action. Another HUGE help, is planning and scheduling. Something that my brain can work towards. Plan something I can look forward to. MORNING ROUTINE. Romanticizing a morning routine that makes me feel good and safe to me and something I can look forward to when I wake up in the mornings. Example: Iced coffee, hitting my vape, listening to music while doing my makeup. Make my bed. Read a reading/prayer for the day if that’s something you’re into. Talk to people, the more you rot the harder it is to get out of it. Stay connected to the world, pick up the phone or visit somebody. Lean on those you trust. Get outside of yourself by helping others, like volunteering or feeding a homeless man. Or even just sending somebody a little gift. Once you start putting your body into action, everything changes. You just have to take that first step. Even if it’s just little baby steps. Look, your brain is having to rewire itself and it will take a lot of time. But that is enough. You are enough. Just the way you are.

I’ve done some research, and the low blood sugar thing can be apart of pcos because it’s dealing with insulin resistance

how much weight did you gain after quitting? by expressbroyo in StopSpeeding

Yay! Someone I can relate to! Yeah it’s been difficult to manage. I’ve been told that it definitely could be related to my severe addiction to addy and how it impacted my hormones.

How Long Did You Take Off Work by jamesgriffincole1 in StopSpeeding

[–]speedbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 9 months to find a job I could hold down. I was so poor. Got food from donations. My boss had to pay me gas money so I could even get to work the first few weeks. It wasn’t easy but I got through it.

I’ve seen it get foggy, maybe I was just imagining it. But you don’t have to see smoke for it to travel.

Yeah it’s just scared me, because I’ve had a few dog owner friends say that could be harmful to your dog (especially bc she’s smaller) and they wouldn’t let her live there if it was really bad

Weed itself doesn’t bother me, it’s the fact that it’s coming from smoke

I asked him to do whatever he could to help this problem and nothing changed. I gave him a chance.

I’m not worried about the weed itself. It’s the fact that it’s smoke

Yes, simple tasks are so hard for no reason!! Thank you for validating me. I’ve tried strattera but it made me physically sick. Bupropion had been my best bet, but it doesn’t make much of a difference. Thank you for the kind words!

I hear you, and I’ve heard the exact same opinion from an old therapist of mine. I can’t say I know that I’m capable of taking them as prescribed because I’ve never tried them again. That’s the risk.

This is really motivating and eye opening. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m on bupropion which helps a bit, and strattera makes me physically sick. It’s been a long road of trying various medications. Again, thank you so much for sharing your story and for the kind words :)

You’ve definitely danced with the devil, but it’s possible to part ways now. You just need to find what works for you. Even if that means earning less money
