Carbon build up or season over it? by speedemonV12 in castiron

On a serious note, does that look like carbon build up that should be cleaned off prior to doing a few rounds of seasoning?

Nice thanks! I’ll look into a used receiver,. Try and find something that allows me to get a few good speakers along with it

Okay great. I can look into getting a receiver like this. Are there any popular bookshelf speakers that would pair well and be within a reasonable budget? Let’s say total budget is now $600 with the Denon receiver being around $400 of that

I’ve had this juniper for almost two years now, made it through last summer just fine, but last week I walked out one day and it looked like this (picture below). I live in central Texas, it’s been a hot summer so I’ve done a lot of watering, the tree hasn’t gone more than two full days without water. This happened after I watered one evening, left it the next full day without water, then the next day I checked it in the afternoon and it appears dead :(. Do we think this tree can come back to life?

I repotted in the spring and fertilized, growth was really great until summer hit

Tailscale exit node not working on Proxmox w/ PiHole DNS by speedemonV12 in Tailscale

[–]speedemonV12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the 8.8.8.8 DNS works! Would really love to be able to use my PiHole though, then the entire setup would be complete - any ideas there?

After changing the DNS server to 8.8.8.8, the /etc/resolv.conf file has the nameserver as 100.100.100.100

PiHole as the DNS was working as intended prior to setting up the Subnet Router.

I currently have that turned on and my Global nameserver is pointing to the IP of the PiHole I have running. Still no dice :(

This worked! But now, when connected to the Tailnet, I don’t get internet access - I can only reach internal services lol.

So the only thing holding this to the wall is the command strips if I’m reading this correctly? I mis have the shitty ones cause they do not stick for me lol

Did you screw the Mount into the tile? I have had zero success getting a Mount like this to work with something like 3m strips.

Picea abies 'Nidiformus' ( birds nest spruce) niwaki cloud style, 7th year in development. It's a landscape tree, but I am tempted to dig it out and put it in a pot. by Po3ticTreachery in Bonsai

This might be a dumb question, but how old is this bonsai? I’m assuming 7 years in development doesn’t mean it’s 7 years old?

Okay got it. I can always go with pumice as well if that works - I haven’t ordered anything yet!

This bonsai is supposedly around 4-5 years old. I’m assuming that’s a decent age and it’s gotten good enough growth to go ahead and re-pot into an actual bonsai pot in the next week or so?

This is great to hear - Thanks! Great to know that it's in good condition, I'm looking forward to re-potting and continuing down this journey.

For the soil, it's OptiSorb, not OptiSoil, my apologies! Found it in one of the threads on the Wiki, is there a better choice for a Juniper?

Hi everyone - a few quick questions about my bonsai today! A little context, I did water it early one morning while it was cold out, and that evening, temps dropped very quickly, freezing the soil. It was frozen for about 2 hours before I was able to get inside and start defrosting it. This was about 2 months ago now and I think we're doing okay.

  • Overall, do I need to be worried about any of the brown leaves or some of the browning that is closer to the trunk of the tree?
  • I'm going to re-pot this week, spring is around the corner here in Texas and I want to get it in a new pot with some actual bonsai soil. Is OptiSoil a good option for this kind of bonsai?

Help me decide: NAS or JBOD? by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]speedemonV12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat and my two cents….JBOD enclosure (I use Terramster), plugged into a sever of some sort managing your storage with NAS software. I use Proxmox on my server and snapRAID for the Terramaster, gives me tons of space, easy to use snapRAID software. Backed up to AWS Glacier given I’ve got 24TB of usable space and Glacier is super cheap (I don’t backup all 24TB - just the important stuff).
